With what’s been happening in this country lately I can’t think for the life of me why Labour even gets a single vote. It’s utter madness that Makerfield gave them so many votes. It looks like we have an even bigger problem here in this country when there are so many people that just don’t care about their own country anymore.

Not exactly surprised by the result in Makerfield. Whilst there were significant vote swings towards Reform and Restore at the expense of the Conservative party it made no difference to the result. Makerfield is and always has been a Labour stronghold for over a hundred years. It is one of Labours safest seats, it forms part of what they call the 'red wall'.

That is why the county is divided. That is how they have you arguing. Bring back communities. Go out and talk to your neighbour, you might be surprised!

The algorithm doesn't show the left what the average person on the right thinks. It doesn't show the right what the average person on the left thinks. It shows them the most outrageous examples. Both sides wonder why the country feels so divided. 🤡Outrage = more scroll time🤡

@JacquiDeevoy1 It's like they don't want to give out crime numbers too, so the less crime numbers they give, it looks like on official records less crimes happened.

I was talking to a young Indian guy the other day. He’s not been in the country long. Back in April, he excitedly took himself on a day trip to London. As he was walking through Borough, a guy ran up to him and punched him hard in the side of the head. He fell to the ground (he’s very slight and probably weighs less than nine stone) and the attacker ran off. The attack occurred immediately outside a (closed) police station. The young man called 999. He was told to report the attack online, which he did. The next day, he realised his hearing had gone in one ear - the ear that was hit in the attack. He called 111 and was told to call back again in a few weeks if the deafness hadn’t cleared. Fortunately, after a couple of weeks, his hearing returned. He chased the police as he hadn’t heard anything after his initial report. They refused to give him a crime reference number as they said there was no proof of the attack. The young man said there was CCTV outside the police station and suggested that it may have recorded what happened. He received no response to that suggestion. Yesterday he said to me “if it was a white guy who was attacked, the police would have done something.” I told him that, if the victim had been white, he would probably have been told it didn’t happen. We talked for a bit about Henry Nowak. We ended up thinking that perhaps this peculiar police reaction - of telling young men they’re lying - may not be a race thing, but more a war against young male victims of crime. It’s a terrible thing to be attacked and then not believed, as poor Henry and this young Indian man discovered. I said I’d help him by chasing his complaint to the police. He appreciated my offer as his English isn’t good and writing emails is difficult for him. I thought I’d share this story here to get your opinions.

@CrossAndCaptial Yeah, women tend to vote Labour. That's interesting, though. Thanks Tom, I hope Restore can break the 10% barrier.

Back from Makerfield, the locals tell me it's just Wigan. Really odd and hard to predict. No enthusiasm for labour at all. Didn't meet a single person who seemed excited to vote for them. Lot of enthusiasm for Restore. Mixed enthusiasm for Reform. Reform the highest share of my exit poll, taken from outside 3 polling stations. However, only a third willing to divulge their vote. And most men. Assuming the women break heavily to Labour, then I think it will be tight
