@TheWizardOz39 @LPTN1776 What do you mean Jackson without the baggage? I love Van Buren but if you are referring to the trail of tears he's the one who actually enforced it.

@LPTN1776 This is why Martin Van Buren is my favorite president. He’s basically Jackson without the baggage, and it would have been awesome if he won in 1848.

On this day in 1833, Andrew Jackson announced that the United States will no longer use the Second Bank of The United States, which was the national bank at that time. We celebrate this day by calling for the Ending of the Federal Reserve. #EndTheFed

@Robotfixx I mean yes anyone entering the commune would agree to it, you cannot force people to be inside it but they can force you to leave.

@XDoom12 As long as participation in such a community is voluntary, of course. But IMPOSING such a community would not be.

A reminder on this Trans day of visibility that Trans rights are human rights. If you want your own bodily autonomy respected and protected, you ought to protect that same right for all others. Because if you allow (or worse, encourage) the government to tread on one group, they WILL tread on you.

@Robotfixx Through private property rights. For example. you can buy up a lot of land and build a private commune where, for example, prostitution and drugs are illegal and anyone violating them can be evicted.

@XDoom12 I have heard of paleo libertarianism. It’s an ideology created by Murray Rothbard in order to campaign for libertarian causes among conservatives. If there is no state to prevent minorities from practicing faith/sexuality/lifestyle etc, how can those things be stopped?

@AGenZFantaSee1 @Robotfixx You don't enforce tradition with the states, you instead do it with private property rights. For example you buy up a lot of land and create a private commune that enforces tradition, and anyone who doesn't follow your private laws on tradition can be evicted.

@LPVT802 Honestly, anyone who has a problem with any group and identifies as a “libertarian” is likely an idiot or wants to hide their fascistic political leanings. Reject these clowns 🤡

A former slave, an Austrian economist, and a Baptist preacher never met. Different centuries. Different continents. Different strategies for change. They kept returning to the same document and arriving at the same conclusion. 🧵

Douglas was a socialist that supported the multiracial democracy that created the modern problems we have. Hayek was a classical socialist liberal that brought some good ideas for his time but after the discovery of objectivism and capitalism his ideology became outdated. MLK was a marxist terrorist that dedicated his career go fighting against the property rights of White people.

@PauletteCl50172 @its_The_Dr 10 of the first 12 presidents owned slaves and at least two (Washington and Jefferson) owned more than Jackson. Zachary Taylor probably owned a comparable amount. Jackson wasn't unique in this and I'd argue he was better than his contemporaries.

@PauletteCl50172 @its_The_Dr Uuh I don't get your point here? I don't believe in reparations if that's what you are asking, I'm just saying Jackson wasn't a strong defender of slavery.

@XDoom12 @its_The_Dr You are correct sir, Black and White were both slaves and owners. Do white slaves get reparations too ?

@PauletteCl50172 @its_The_Dr Plenty of people partook in slavery's institutions without "strongly supporting" it (example Jefferson and Washington, both of whom owned more slaves than Jackson). Not questioning morality is not equal to "strongly" supporting it, he also never said slavery was a moral positive.

@its_The_Dr Democratic party: Andrew Jackson strongly supported slavery. He was a lifelong slave owner, slave trader, and active participant in the institution, viewing it as essential to his personal wealth, social status, and the Southern economy—without ever questioning its morality.

Unpopular opinion; Andrew Jackson was a great President. He ended the central bank & paid off the national debt.

@okmatechill @lemme_see121 @fasc1nate The weather doesn't change the fact Churchill deliberately exported food from India knowing how bad things were and blocked countries like Canada and Australia from sending India help. The weather could have started a famine but Churchill engineered it so millions would die.

89 year old Winston Churchill leaves the House of Commons for the last time. He was a member of Parliament for 64 years. July 27, 1964. As he moved slowly down the aisle of the chamber he had once commanded, the man who had steered a nation through its darkest hours seemed only a distant echo of his former self. Surveying the room, he turned to a colleague and murmured, almost wistfully, “I am so bored with it all.” Six months later, Churchill was gone. 47 of the most haunting photos from history: bit.ly/46yA996
