One thing Canada could consider is our electoral system with compulsory voting and preferential (ranked choice) voting. We have had them for a century. If Canada had had ranked choice you would not have seen so many anomalous results where a Conservative candidate won because a (greater) progressive vote was split between NDP and Liberal. In single member constituencies ranked choice ensures the winner is the candidate preferred by a majority and not just a plurality. @CBC
