In this Sipapalooza episode, I sit down with Jacob from @HistoryWJacob for a spirited conversation on American history and forgotten patriots. We review Young Washington, exploring George Washington’s early years as a young leader forging his character amid danger and destiny. Jacob also shares insights from his popular podcast and shines a light on overlooked American heroes like the legendary strongman Peter Francisco — the “Giant of the Revolution” who fought like a lion for independence. Packed with inspiring stories of courage, sacrifice, and the American spirit, this episode is a must-listen for every patriot who loves our nation’s founding history and the extraordinary men and women who built it. Soooooooooo .... grab your goblet of grog and join us for this patriotic episode of Sipapalooza

✨ Stepping into this breathtaking bedroom feels like stepping back in time to true Southern hospitality. This is the legendary Blue Room at Avoca — the best room in the house, and it was always reserved for guests. Look at that grand four-poster canopy bed draped in flowing white sheers, dressed in crisp blue-and-white linens that perfectly match the exquisite toile wallpaper enveloping the room. Polished hardwood floors, a cozy floral chaise at the foot of the bed, ornate rugs, and that dramatic arched doorway leading into a sunlit sitting area with a chandelier ... every detail whispers elegance and comfort. In the Victorian era (and at homes like Avoca), the finest bedroom wasn’t kept for the family — it was proudly given to honored visitors. Family lore says this room was always decorated in blue, a tradition they honored for generations. Guests were treated like royalty here, waking up to morning light filtering through the windows and feeling completely enveloped in beauty and warmth. No wonder it was considered the best room in the house. Would you want to be the lucky guest staying here?

@BBHerodotus I have been in there twice and was both times astonished how small it was, considering his vast wealth and the extraordinary views of Mount Vernon that could have afforded him if he so desired.

I watched the Patriot again last night. Incredible film that showcases American heroism during the revolution. People can argue about historical accuracy all they want but I will say one thing that no one can disagree with. Only in movies do men cut apples with their knives and eat a slice off the blade. I’ve seen that in a million movies. So have you. In the history of humankind, no one has ever actually done that. It’s a movie thing.

Paper Wasp Nest update: I took this photo this morning. It’s getting bigger and bigger and bigger! My greenhouse is beginning to look like the set of ALIENS.

I want to invite an expert on The Odyssey by Homer (the book, not the film) to be a guest on my Sipapalooza podcast. Any suggestions? Anyone on X an expert on the subject? Kindly let me know straightaway.

Every single friend I’ve ever had who is on the Left has been deeply unhappy with their own lives. So they blame others - usually republicans and now Trump - as the source of their misery. It never made sense to me. I have a relative who is dying from cancer and he can’t STFU about Trump. His final days are filled with bitching about what he sees on the news.

The people on the Left are eternally miserable because utopia didn't work out so they pretend and cosplay oppression. It's embarrassing.

When I was a kid my father told me, “Everything that’s alive wants to live.” I live by that rule. Everything deserves to live their life free from fear and harm. In a few more months they will have lived their lives and did what nature expected of them. We all play our role while here. I won’t interfere with theirs.

@XStrangeHistory @IHearTheShofar Thanks for being a good conservationist. They don’t sting, they have probably moved in because there are actual pests that they can feast on. This is a mutually beneficial arrangement!

A friend of mine had a stroke 2 years ago. He talks fine. He is healthy. But I just found out today that he can no longer read or do math. I had no idea. Is this normal? Does that sort of thing return on its own or does he have to learn it all over again?

@EdwardMSuarez I was in an old country store a few weeks ago and they had some on display. I was thinking about taking it down and giving it away but if I leave it there it will prevent them from creating another one in the future. So I might leave it.

@KnightspurHouse I’ve been to his house in upstate New York. It’s a tourist attraction worth going to. It is interesting how contemporary it looks like it could be in a Levittown community.

@HoneyBeeSage @seanonolennon Ah, so that’s the issue. You are angry at your parents and you are blaming Sean’s parents for your unhappy childhood. Your parents likely listened to Bob Dylan and the Hollies, too. Maybe spread the blame around to them, too.

You really really do not want a swarm of those things coming after you. I once stepped out of my Jeep in my driveway onto a patch of crab apples that were covered with wasps I got stung about eight or nine times and the doctor told me never to get stung for at least a year or I get end up with anaphylaxis. Buy some Benadryl

@realsashastone Something tells me the screenwriter and director may have deviated quite a bit from the mythic storytelling filter and hero’s journey template. Joseph Campbell would likely be horrified.

Yep, and we really need to be prepared for it. We all want the best of health for everyone, but we are going to be hit in the gut when we lose a lot of our favorites in the next 5-10 years. We all need to do our part to make sure we share their music and memories of everything they gave us. Take care and keep up the great work.

Gen X is the last generation who will collectively grieve the deaths of famous musicians they grew up listening to. Losing Elvis, John Lennon, David Bowie, Prince, Michael Jackson, Glenn Frey, Neil Peart, Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler, etc. really hit them hard because their music was all around them as they grew up (yeah, I know Elvis and John Lennon were famous for Baby Boomers first but their music was still all around Gen X while growing up. Which famous musician’s death hit you like losing a member of the family?

@XStrangeHistory I had wasps, those yellow jackets, once on my front lawn digging a hole. I hired a guy. Okay it was a long time ago but it didn't cost anywhere near $800. Just be really careful
