Where the country that armed, trained, and created the conditions for the Taliban spent twenty years fighting the Taliban. Where the country that sanctioned Iraq through the 1990s, killing an estimated 500,000 children through the denial of medicine and food, a number Madeleine Albright called "worth it" on national television, explained that it was doing so because it cared about the Iraqi people. What we desperately need right now in Africa is to remain ruthlessly objective in our structural analysis, ask the hard questions, and develop robust political models that actually guarantee the survival of the revolution. At this critical moment, it is absolutely not a crime to ask why Captain Ibrahim Traoré, who continuously postures himself as the fearless head of a revolutionary movement working to purge Western imperialism from the continent, has signed the controversial "America First" bilateral health agreement with Washington. This agreement contains highly concerning clauses requiring his government to directly share the private, biometric, genomic, and medical health data of the citizens of Burkina Faso with predatory, multi-billion-dollar American pharmaceutical companies. Meanwhile, countries like Ghana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia all firmly, courageously rejected this exact same neocolonial deal, while in Kenya, massive citizen protests, intense public outcries, and aggressive legal pushbacks rightfully saw the deal crumble to pieces. Of course, there are highly practical, valid, and understandable tactical reasons why Traoré chose to take this deal, including the fact that his administration intends to use the foreign funding to build local medical clinics, purchase emergency medical supplies, and free up vital capital to fight the devastating terrorist attacks currently plaguing his country. But an intellectual environment where asking these basic, necessary questions is immediately treated with malice, labeled as treason, and attacked by internet mobs is deeply unhealthy, and I refuse to participate in such online toxicity. 3. I am absolutely not implying or alluding that the people of Burkina Faso do not love their leader. Heck, we all passionately love, support, and celebrate what is happening in the Sahel region right now, but we must have the intellectual maturity to understand that raw emotion, nationalistic fervour, and public love will never, on their own, defend a revolution. The people of Burkina Faso genuinely, deeply, and passionately loved Thomas Sankara from the absolute bottom of their hearts, but that immense love did not prevent his tragic assassination, nor was that love structurally enough to force the unorganized, demobilized masses to successfully resist the corrupt, Western-backed, and highly exploitative puppet government immediately imposed upon them by Blaise Compaoré. This is exactly why I stubbornly maintain that the AES must build robust, collective, and anti-fragile state institutions grounded in Marxist-Leninist dialectical and historical materialism, just as we have successfully seen survive in Vietnam, China, and Cuba. The working-class masses desperately, urgently need to be structurally integrated, ideologically trained, and physically armed to defend their own revolution.

A mere academic debate or a panel discussion will never settle this issue, simply because this deep-seated ideological division did not start today. The very first, foundational architects of Pan-Africanism were almost entirely hostile to Marxism. They insisted that the historical fate of the brutally oppressed African and the exploited white European worker were never, under any circumstances, connected, and that black people must strictly, exclusively unite within their own racial borders to construct a sovereign, independent African state. When David Hundeyin made a highly publicized post declaring that he would absolutely never organize or build coalitions with Marxists and anti-capitalists, it immediately reminded me of the intense ideological battles during the Apartheid era in South Africa. Back then, Steve Biko himself adamantly refused to work with the African National Congress (ANC), and personally pulled his dedicated supporters in the "Black Consciousness Movement " completely out of the multiracial liberation front. His explicit, non-negotiable reason was that the ANC-led alliance was structurally multi-racial and heavily influenced by active communists. Biko flatly refused to politically organize with fellow Black South Africans who had embraced the Communist Manifesto of Karl Marx. And just as David Hundeyin is particularly singing the exact same tune today, Biko fiercely insisted that African liberation is strictly a race issue, and that the dogmatic communists will always lazily, incorrectly reduce it to a mere economic class issue. Furthermore, to illustrate just how historically deep this ideological rift is, even prominent Pan-African giants like Marcus Garvey and Leopold Senghor (the first President of Senegal) both rejected Marxist philosophy with their full chest. These were the highly influential pioneers who originally conceptualized, popularized, and marketed the early Pan-African movement, which is precisely why many of our very first post-independence African leaders who assumed executive power were never fully Marxist, anti-capitalist, or structurally revolutionary. Although, I must confess that I am quite shocked to see this anti-Marxist narrative gaining massive momentum on this platform, especially considering that most of the online Pan-Africanists I have interacted with routinely rate Kwame Nkrumah, Frantz Fanon, and Walter Rodney in incredibly high, unquestionable esteem. All of these legendary, revolutionary authors based their primary socio-political analysis strictly on class struggle, historical materialism, and anti-capitalist economics. Kwame Nkrumah himself openly declared his transition to pure Marxism during the later stages of his life in exile and bitterly regretted his historical failure to build a scientific socialist state when he possessed absolute power in Ghana. This presents a highly amusing, deeply embarrassing contradiction to me. The very same Kwame Nkrumah that this new wave of Pan-Africanists are quoting up and down to buttress their point was actually an uncompromising Marxist. I almost never see them quoting the race-first writings of Steve Biko, the philosophy of Marcus Garvey, or the negritude writings of Leopold Senghor. This glaring contradiction completely convinces me that these staunch Pan-Africanists have probably never actually studied, read, or comprehended the core written works of the very revolutionary thinkers they performatively idolize on their timelines. What ultimately convinced Nkrumah that a purely "race-based" analysis would never work in the real world was his practical experience as the executive president of Ghana. He rapidly discovered that when the European colonial masters departed, they intentionally left behind rigid state institutions that perfectly mirrored the old, extractive colonial structures. So, under this flag independence, it was no longer white faces physically doing the extraction, but rather wealthy, black-skinned local elites doing the brutal plunder on behalf of their Western masters. This is, of course, the exact phenomenon that Frantz Fanon analyzed so brilliantly in his classic books, "Black Skin, White Masks" and "The Wretched of the Earth". Nkrumah recognized that you cannot base your liberation analysis on race alone, because these Black elites are actively, happily helping to maintain, defend, and expand the neocolonial empire on strict behalf of the collective West. Therefore, the only scientifically sound, logically consistent analysis to use is "class," as the ruling elites in Nigeria and the rest of Africa are deeply, financially united with the imperialist elites in the West. Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala sits comfortably as the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, but do you honestly believe she is going to draft or enact international trade policies that favor the impoverished cocoa farmer in Ghana or the cassava farmer in Ondo State, as opposed to the predatory venture capitalists on Wall Street? And if you try to make the emotional argument that she is merely a helpless "puppet", then what about Bayo Ogunlesi? He is a proud Nigerian, yet he occupies a highly prestigious, high-profile position on the board of BlackRock and wields massive, multi-billion-dollar voting power in that financial behemoth. BlackRock essentially drafts, dictates, and enforces the macroeconomic austerity plans that the World Bank and the IMF use to systematically suffocate African nations. So, is Bayo Ogunlesi also just a helpless, brainwashed puppet? Absolutely not. These are highly calculating, self-aware class actors actively fighting for their own personal interest, corporate portfolios, and shareholder dividends, even at the direct expense of their own race. Even the almighty Aliko Dangote, whom we love to blindly praise for keeping his physical businesses based here in Africa: have you ever once seen him reciting anti-colonial phrases by Kwame Nkrumah, or actively discussing the structural liberation of the African working class? He is only outspoken, aggressive, and loud when the government or African state institutions enact regulatory policies that place a slight friction to his endless, insatiable quest for monopolistic wealth and state power. As long as his massive refinery is running smoothly, his local monopolies are legally protected, and the profit margins of his wealthy shareholders are met, the entire African continent might as well burn in the deepest pits of hell. And yet, despite these glaring realities, our people here are still loudly insisting that we must unite strictly, exclusively on the basis of race. Let me ask you a very simple, direct question: unite with whom, exactly? Our corrupt political elites in Nigeria would never utter a single, authentic anti-colonial statement that challenges the financial interests of the global capitalist network, even if their very lives, properties, and Swiss bank accounts depended on it. So, by simple process of elimination, you are left with only the working class, the landless peasantry, and the exploited proletariat to actually lead this revolutionary movement. And since this fight is no longer against white colonial administrators, British governors, and their gunboats, but is instead directly against their fellow black-skinned oppressors, it inevitably becomes a classic, textbook class struggle between the oppressed working-class proletariat and the local bourgeois class and their Western capitalist overlords. This means that whether you like it or not, Marxist class analysis enters the show one way or another. Finally, I highly employ Mr. David Hundeyin, his online followers, and every other race-essentialist thinker on this platform to genuinely, deeply study the intellectual evolution of W.E.B. Du Bois. In his early years, Du Bois was indeed one of the pioneering, classic founders of Pan-Africanism, and he initially, outrightly rejected Marxist analysis. Du Bois did not merely stop at claiming that the struggles of African-descended people were entirely distinct from those of white European workers; he actually took it upon himself to formulate a social theory to prove it. He famously proposed that if the top 10 percent of highly educated, intellectual, and wealthy Black Americans(whom he grouped under his famous concept of "The Talented Tenth") could successfully unite, they would organically uplift, educate, and liberate the rest of the impoverished Black masses. However, after several decades of observing reality, Du Bois watched in horror as these middle-class, educated, and wealthy Black Americans, the moment they achieved a sliver of financial success and social mobility, became completely self-serving, materialistic, and individualistic. They happily, eagerly aligned themselves with the exploitative capitalist system to protect their newfound comfort, rather than working to uplift the suffering Black masses. We see this exact same tragedy today: many of our celebrated artists, content creators, and corporate professionals in Nigeria were once genuinely poor and loudly desired a better government. But the very second they secure fame, secure endorsement deals, and the foreign currency begins flowing into their accounts, they immediately align themselves with the global capitalist network, completely abandoning their people's struggle. This painful, real-world realization forced Du Bois to conclude that racial solidarity alone could never bridge the massive, hostile divide between the material interests of the Black elite and the Black working class. It was this exact failure of race-essentialism that pushed him directly into the arms of Marxism. In his mature, late-stage works, Du Bois brilliantly noted that systemic "racism" and colonial exploitation are not merely based on the emotional, irrational prejudices of white people hating black people. Rather, the white European capitalist states are systematically conquering and exploiting the Global South to extract cheap raw materials and find new markets to artificially sustain their collapsing domestic capitalist empires. This confirmed to him that imperialism is always, inevitably the logical end product of capitalism, exactly as predicted by Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin. He famously concluded that these capitalist empires actively, deliberately manufactured and promoted intense racism against people of color to provide a form of "psychological wage" to their own domestic, white working-class citizens. By giving poor white workers a manufactured, superior social status simply for being "white," they successfully kept the global working class permanently divided, preventing them from ever uniting against their common corporate oppressors. This profound class analysis convinced Du Bois that racism was a highly calculated, engineered tool actively used by the global ruling class to maintain capitalist power. We see this exact psychological manipulation actively playing out in North Africa today, where they are strategically brainwashed into believing they are "semi-Europeans," or in South Africa, where locals are algorithmically manipulated into believing they are "better," superior, and more civilized Africans than their continental brothers. This is precisely why W.E.B. Du Bois eventually dismissed the fragile, unscientific idea of pure racial solidarity, officially joined the Communist Party, and wholly adopted Marxism during the final, most intellectually mature years of his life.
