Thinking about this again I do think it happens A LOT. The fanbase judges Korra way harsher than Aang for similar or even smaller mistakes both for her relationships and avatar job. Aang runs away from his responsibility and the war escalates, but the fandom frames it as a tragic, sympathetic choice. Korra on the other hand trusts Unalaq and gets manipulated, and she’s labeled stupid or reckless. Aang loses control of the Avatar State multiple times and causes destruction, but it’s seen as powerful or emotional. Korra loses control or struggles, and it’s treated as incompetence and "ruining balance". In relationships, Aang’s awkwardness or missteps get a pass as innocence, while Korra’s conflicts get framed as toxicity. The difference is not even the actions, it’s the framing which is weird. Aang is remembered through his victories and growth while Korra is judged in real time for her failures.
