@mylandsinorder @JessKaurr_ "Guru blessed us with weapons" yeah totally not the fact that Western law allows them to carry them, then these types of people bark like chihuahuas. We are a bunch of morons.

@maxtempers @Cheetoignocnito @NeilDotObrien Meanwhile now, all the very necessary vape shop and corner shop counter guys, who are filling dearly, desperately empty vacancies, just quietly disappear after their visa ends, and work underground without paying tax.

@maxtempers @Cheetoignocnito @NeilDotObrien This racket is seriously treason... there is principle here, regardless of people's opinion, in a government having been elected to reduce immigration and then destroying the borders. If there were any serious democratic boundaries in this country it'd never have happened.

If there's no evidence people left the country after their visa expired, the ONS just *assumes* they left. Via FOI I have found out that this assumption now accounts for a *fifth* of all non-EU emigration - and rising rapidly. The govt must get a grip on who is in this country.

@BlueDwarf6 @BenBarryJones @AllisonPearson That is, if we evaluate from a secular perspective, then we don't even really know what Muhammad taught, much of it is thought to be a narrative built after his death. What is more relevant is what the actual belief system entails, which is belief in this hadith collection.

@BlueDwarf6 @BenBarryJones @AllisonPearson The work you are referencing criticises hadith in general as unreliable, so you'd have to bin the entirety of Islamic history. It is known that secular scholars don't accept the Islamic narrative. It is not about that. It is about what is accepted within the Islamic paradigm.

The "blasphemy belt" is real. West Yorkshire police ousted a hate crime advisor for "hate speech" because she defended the right to criticise Mohammed. This email was sent by a serving police officer. It says calling Mohammed a paedophile for marrying a child is not "ok" 👇

@austinjamesigwe I also agree that there are concerns about indulging extreme rhetoric, and I do think mismanaging the situation only empowers those voices. Because in the end the centre ground is who they have to win, and pushing open borders style policy will only make it more likely.

@austinjamesigwe @duchace So yes, it is more difficult to have a reasoned conversation about it now, because, after failure of government policy, many have started to think 'we need to shut it down completely', and those on the other side, in response, push back against them very hard.

@Ayo_Black1 Because if nobody was doing it, they'd have to increase wages/better conditions to attract people, having nobody to fill their vacancies. That is the general argument.

The problem I have with the low pay defense is that you cannot complain that immigrant are taking the jobs and then turn back and say you can’t do the said jobs. The prison services pays an average of 36k per annum for entry roles and it’s still the same story. Same with children services. Hospitality and retail pay shit pay and British nationals still do them. You can’t pick and choose when it’s convenient for you. Lastly, immigrants have no access to public funds or social welfare and they still do said jobs.
Jas@symplylivinj

I get you, but they rather exploit migrants than increase pay. Considering how much people pay to be in them care homes. They deserve so much better pay wise. Immigrants do it because they want a better life here which is understandable but that’s what the government bank on. This tweet summed up everything I think on it x.com/_mr_nuel/statu…

@Ayo_Black1 @OneSodiqAlabii Precisely the response to Mahmood's visa reforms has been that after immigrants gain ILR they will stop doing care work as they can move to more appealing jobs.

@anyotherleader1 @BareLeft Do you think there's a conversation to be had about how mass migration can fuel the race to the bottom? It can be used as a benefit, but it shouldn't be used as a profit making endeavour for big business.

@BareLeft Its also horseshit. Spain are bringing down their youth unemployment whilst welcoming migrant population, integrating them into the economy to fuel growth, building houses and focusing on workers over business. If you suggest doing that here you're treated as an unserious person

@austinjamesigwe @MrLewisVuitton So, depending on the individual circumstance, he might well be entitled to say that the same kind of opportunity doesn't extend to another person.

@austinjamesigwe @MrLewisVuitton Surely it changes depending on what type of immigration is being examined though? You can't say that all of it is the same, that an international student from China is the same as a nurse from Nigeria, they carry different economic, ethical, legal weights etc.

@MrLewisVuitton You have to be much clearer about what exactly you mean and what you are comparing, or saying, 'why shouldn't other immigrants have the same chance' doesn't help... because there might be reasons they are not like-for-like comparisons.

@duchace @MrLewisVuitton Just comparing totally different situations, how do you know the circumstances in which his family came here, or anyone else's? Is an asylum seeker from Iraq in the 2000s the same as an international student from India in 2026? Do they carry the same legal/ethical obligations?

@MoyoisGod @MrLewisVuitton This is inherently a very capitalist and neoliberal viewpoint, that the only thing which matters is the bottom line and that costs should be cut as far as possible. That's what it does, the attitude that people should endlessly hunt for a few extra dollars.
