Every Trump advisor pushed back, but President Trump maintained that the regime change wasn't his issue, believing he could dislodge Iran's missiles and grip on the Strait. General Dan Caine and Sec. Rubio warned that the analysis was nonsense, with the after effects showing that neither the expectation of destroying Iran's missiles nor securing the Strait was achievable. As a result, the Israelis effectively sold Trump on a war under false pretenses that turned into a conundrum quickly.
