This is exactly why video games are so ugly, buggy and worse than they were 20 years ago. This mentality right here. The desire to use video games as a medium of societal change, without interest in the games themselves or the experience they deliver to the audience. None of that is important. What’s important is we take over the space, insert our politics and our aesthetic sensibilities contrary to what consumers actually want, because we are activists first and artists second. Studios listened to Anita and hired thousands of carbon copies of her, people with little to no idea about how to make a good game, but are quite sure they know how to fix society and are rather strident about it. Then the layoffs came because nobody’s buying games anymore. The game mechanics suck, the stories told are uniformly beige slop, they’re unoptimized, buggy on release, and on top of that prices are increasing. There’s no reason for anyone to buy in to new games anymore. Games used to be made by white nerds with a passion for engineering and finding solutions to intractable problems. Now they’re being made by a beige melange of third worlders and childless millennial women who think white men are the worst thing to happen to the earth. We know why the industry is failing. There is no saving it unless executives say enough is enough and start prioritising their consumers over activism.

@Dynamic_Nate @OOC_Unova @quintzeee To be fair, that happened for Ash to save three of his gym battles (which was also stupid) Though I hate that they made Riolu so completely infallible, and one time he takes a hit he instantly evolves, talk about a creators pet.

This battle still feels like a fever dream to me: - Ash using two Stage 1 Pokémon - Ash NOT USING KROOKODILE - Cameron having a Hydreigon - Cameron using a Ferrothorn against a Fire type Pokémon - Cameron using a Swanna against an Electric type Pokémon - Cameron thinking a full battle is 5 vs 5 - Ash losing a 6 vs 5 Worst Pokemon League battle of all time.

Games are not Hollywood. Games don't need BAFTA awards. Games don't need actors to succeed. Games are not your school's theater club. Games are a medium that should be centered around gameplay and badass art direction. That's it. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

@Yep_ItsMeAgain @OOC_Unova In fairness, Best Wishes had signs it'd be a dumpster fire even before the Plasma cancellation incident. Though what arguably derailed it even worse was the BW2 advertising (there are signs of this, like the imprints in Ash's badge case suddenly changing to generic circles).

They made Ash the dumbest possible trainer all season. Like Roggenrola knew Stone Edge one of the strongest rock type moves, he got rid of it once it evolved to Boldore for Rock Blast......... Pikachu lost Volt Tackle for Electro Ball..... Oshawott still knew Tackle...... Unfezant, a fully evolved flying type still knew Gust the second weakest flying type move. It was like Hoenn all over again. You can really tell that cancelled Plasma story arc really changed everything.

They could've just as well slapped the thing on Iris's Emolga, but maybe they figured it was already occupied with Volt Switch. Even so, it never justified getting rid of Volt Tackle.

I mean, Volt Tackle seems special in that it's exclusive to the Pikachu line, you have to go out of your way to obtain it, and while arguably not great competitively, at least hits pretty hard.
