@AIMAberdeen Will changing position stop the decisions being made by the UK Gov? I’ve just seen 40 of my colleagues let go and with the American owners in constant dialogue with the staff they have never blamed the Scottish Gov for any of their decisions.

The SNP really must change postion, the risk that economic reality facing Labour would see a change in Labour policy has always been very real. The SNP's fence sitting pleases no one.

Sounds like there will be a big shift in thinking on oil and gas under Burnham - "That means safeguarding the country’s sovereign manufacturing and production capacity in critical sectors, rather than standing by as strategically important industries are lost"

20-30 years ago Glasgow had a lot of violence and division. It also had a lot of deprivation similar to what we see now, and in similar areas. It took a long time to navigate that and to reach a pseudo-settlement. Those who are old enough will remember this. It has been a mistake for Labour, the SNP and the Greens to govern Scotland and Glasgow in the manner that they have. It has also been a mistake for the opposition not to hear the concerns of lower and working class people. If there are any Police left familiar with the old Glasgow they will know that the approach by the political establishment has been akin to playing with fire ...
Joanna 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿@FemaleScotlandV

My tuppence. This will not stop in Glasgow, all the protests. What we are watching is as a result of prolonged Governmental failure, in the Scottish Parliament and at Westminster. On a local level too.

So nothing was stolen. She was apparently attacked around 12:30pm the day before, and she’d been on TalkTV that same morning. They’re already claiming it’s ‘not political’ but how could they possibly know that so quickly? You’re seriously telling me some random guy broke into a pensioner’s home, took nothing, and killed her just for fun with no motive at all? How ridiculous

Reports that nothing was stolen from Ann Widdecombe’s home make this case even more difficult to understand. If it wasn’t a robbery, then what was the motive? Why was a 78 year old woman, a former MP and Reform UK’s Immigration and Justice Spokesperson, targeted? The motive behind this horrific crime must be uncovered, and every possibility must be investigated, including whether there was a political motive.

After laying flowers for Ann Widdecombe, Nigel Farage told reporters, "From what I can see of it, from what I can make out, this was premeditated murder."

EXCL: Andy Burnham 'open minded' to North Sea oil and gas decisions ahead as Scottish Labour MPs and industry pile pressure on for a re-think on policy as part of his 'reindustralisation' agenda Optimism over Gov green light to Rosebank and Jackdaw. Insiders say Burnham wants to do the right thing for Britain, business and consumers Story with @ginadavidsonlbc lbc.co.uk/article/andy-b…

From Prof Alf Baird: Recent articles in The National questioning “Why are SNP figures not making a compelling case for independence?” It seems as if intellectuals on the left, including Shafi, Riddoch etc, still ignore postcolonial theory, which tells us the answer, as Fanon explained: – the dominant national party ‘makes an accommodation with colonialism’; – the party becomes ‘infiltrated’ by colonial actors; – the party elite ‘feathers its nest’ and ‘builds up its pensions’; – it ‘takes the movement up a blind alley’; – the party elite refuse to act on the most urgent matter of ‘freeing the people’ because they ‘fear the colonizers tanks and planes’; – it ‘attacks the radicals in the party’ also ‘using colonial forces’ to punish them; – it ‘behaves like a gang’ and appoints its friends to key positions; – the party ‘depends on slogans’ and leaves the matter of independence’ to future events’; – the party ‘becomes calcified’, immobile, unable to move forward; – it lacks any ‘innovation’ on the cause; – it ‘delays independence’ which is what leads ‘to conflict’; – it ‘ruptures the movement’; – it works ‘to keep the racket going; – the elite become ‘colonial watchdogs’; – and, finally, once the people figure out they have been duped, ‘the national party disintegrates’, which is what we are seeing now.
