@trethack24 Read an article a couple of days ago about our days getting longer every year. They blamed it on the icecaps melting🧐 the facts are clear. Our moon is moving farther away. Affecting the seasons and oceans. Eventually earth will have a dark side like the moon. Real science❤️

Idk about where y’all live, but here in my little slice of Kentucky, we’ve had one of the nicest spring seasons I can remember in years??? Don’t get me wrong, we’ve had a couple really warm days, been a little dry at times, but the temperatures have been wonderful! Usually, we’re already well into the 90’s everyday by this time??? Like I told Yogi, I’m hoping the earth is coming back into kilter??? I’ve said for over a decade, that it may take millions of years, but, I believe we’ll have another Ice Age, and have been called a lunatic for saying it… Look it up… Now, ole Al Gore is getting ready for a major polar winter???💯🤷🏼‍♂️🥴

@Just_Gin_Gin @trethack24 When we were looking for a place to retire to, Yogi wanted to be near the ocean to watch the dolphins. I always knew to wanted to be a mountain woman. Now we have so much more wildlife to watch.

@Jaytex45 @KYCooperrider The governor’s race is in an off year. Not in the same year as presidential or midterms so voter turnout is low.

Perhaps we should figure out how they rig the governor seat? I refuse to believe a majority voted basically republican straight ticket and gave us a full red legislative and even attorney general but when they reached the governor bubble they picked a Democrat? That makes ZERO sense. That's not a realistic outcome.

Beshear’s alleged illegal donor is being sued by the same credit card company he used to make the alleged straw donations—for unpaid debts. So not only did London Mayor Randall Weddle allegedly use his American Express card to make illegal straw donations (political contributions in someone else’s name) to Beshear, but he is also being sued for supposedly failing to pay the bill on that same card. Who would make illegal donations with money they don’t even have to Beshear?

@_yogi_Bear_316 Those wrens are angry little buggers. Every year they find places to nest that results in us, unknowingly encroaching. This, of course, results in me being startled while Mama wren screams obscenities as she flies out. Birds are fun. 🙄

A Carolina wren made her nest in the pot of our indoor hibiscus we put on the porch every spring. Momma flys in and out with stealth and the pups are none the wiser 😁

The Kentucky Legislature just approved a $95,000 contract to lobby... itself. The Government Contract Review Committee waved through a $95,000 contract issued by KEMI for “government relations services at the state and federal level” to McCarthy Strategic Solutions. KEMI (Kentucky Employers’ Mutual Insurance) is a workers’ compensation insurer of last resort created by the state Legislature. Essentially, the state requires companies to carry workers’ comp insurance, but private insurers won’t cover every employer—so the Legislature created KEMI. KEMI is funded entirely by premiums paid by its policyholders. While it receives no state appropriations, it’s worth noting that the state mandates this coverage, and those costs are ultimately passed on to the customers of insured companies. The KEMI board is appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. You’d think a quasi-state, quasi-private entity run entirely by political appointees wouldn’t need to hire a lobbyist to lobby the very state government that created it and appointed its board. It’s also interesting that the company selected is owned by John McCarthy, a former Chair of the Republican Party of Kentucky and current Republican National Committeeman. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the fact that the Kentucky Legislature and state government can issue and oversee contracts to lobby themselves shows that something is broken.

This is so interesting and amazing!!! The mother hen on the right is interacting with the chicks about ready to hatch in a couple days (May 28th-29th is the due date). Her clutch is due before the hen on the lefts clutch that is due a few days after. She’s clucking and cooing at the chicks in the eggs and they are chirping back at her. (Turn the sound up and listen closely!) Mother hens interact with their chicks before they hatch. Their chicks can also interact back with chirps and movement while still in the egg even before birth. That’s how they know who their mother is even before birth.

Kentucky Representative who voted to funnel money to her husband's companies loses seat by 13 votes. A few months ago I made a post calling out Rep. Kim Banta for an obvious conflict of interest. Her husband, Tom Banta, was Corporex’s Chief Real Estate Officer and is currently a consultant for the company (developer Bill Butler’s firm), with ownership in Bexion Pharma according to recent disclosures. Despite that, she voted yes on $15M (2022 HB1) + $125M in the 2024 budget for Northern Kentucky life sciences projects flowing into Corporex/OneNKY and Bexion’s ecosystem — $140 million total in Kentucky taxpayer funds. Let’s hope this is a clear lesson: recuse yourself from votes where you or your family stand to make money off them. No more games with our tax dollars. Hopefully other legislators take note and think twice about funneling taxpayer money into their pockets.
