pretty cool seeing some activity on here after not posting for months, and only getting back to posting for a day or two! I was honestly thinking I'm gonna go back to posting to the void if you've been silent for months and wanna get back into it, just do it.

Review of my stay in Tbilisi for 2 months Beautiful place and definitely had lots of good parts but overall was my worst nomad experience. Pros: - Pretty cheap overall - Safe - Good food and produce imo. Meat isn't the best but cheap Cons: - Smoke smell everyone. people smoke outside the gym, in their apartment, everywhere on the street - Everyone drives super aggressive. Took many taxis and not even one drove well, basically getting around is unpleasant to say the least. Also most taxis had smoke smell - The vibe is pretty cold. People don't smile much, don't greet. When you talk to them they are kind, and there are many nice people, but I do prefer warmer environment. - People are up till late, which means lots of noise. There are quiet places for sure, but was harder to find - Infrastructure isn't the best. Had a full day of not having water and electricity, something that didn't happen in 3 months of staying in Sri Lanka Overall if I'd go back, it would be only for the nature

@desunit True, but this tradeoff is now much less impactful with AI. But yeah for sure, I'm happy that I'm just doing IOS now

@YairDev Native feels calmer because the stack surface area is smaller... but the tradeoff (especially if you are a small team/solo) - now you own two platforms

best decision I've done building mobile apps is to use Swift instead of Expo can't even begin to describe how better the experience is

@thomas_nylund @Baconbrix Also, I'm mostly using AI to code these days, so trying to find out what I did wrong that caused it was super hard, actually took me less time to just get codex to code my app in Swift, it's a very simple one.

@YairDev @Baconbrix This sounds like a skill issue. I’ve been developing with Expo for 5 years and I’ve never seen and issue/bug that would happen in TestFlight only but not locally/on simulator or vice versa.

@thomas_nylund @Baconbrix It definitely very well could be, and highly likely this is! But it's easier for me to just use Swift rather than try to improve at it, at least for my goals

@YairDev I wa developing an app for my client for Amazon TV, the app was simple, stream videos that will run for days non stop, I tried everything but the videos will stop and freeze after 24 hours, spent a month trying different approaches nothing worked. Switched to kotlin and it worked

So the fact I find it difficult to work with Expo, but easy to work with Swift means I'm not a good developer? Even if true, this only proves that Swift is easier to use

@YairDev @Baconbrix You're just not a good developer. Sorry.

@capsnoluck @alexvinidiktov @Baconbrix I could probably keep going with Expo but I'm developing multiple simple apps Codex built an app faster in Swift than I could fix the issues I was having with expo 🤷‍♂️

@alexvinidiktov @YairDev @Baconbrix What diff does it make? I been on and off expo since 2020 and I couldn’t say that I am an experienced expo engineer until only last year that I decided to not let these issues get in the way and eventually give up, I released 4 expo apps by learning how to overcome the problems

@YairDev Check it out the ASO, and also the screenshots, that conversion rate is low. but keep it going!

@YairDev Impressions are great, but the conversion rate seems low. I think you should work on improving your screenshots. Are you running an ad campaign?

@indiesoftwaredv Yeah can't deny that benefit, but not worth the tradeoff for me, I rather just wait for updates, many times you gotta compile native code so it doesn't always matter

@YairDev I love Swift eighter but when you learn Expo it makes lots of things much smoother and Expo supports native modules as well For example, I make quick changes with my phone and send updates
