NASA plans to build a permanent base on the Moon in the 2030s According to the agency’s updated timeline, deployment of permanent infrastructure on the lunar surface will begin in 2029. This includes power systems and habitable modules for long-term astronaut stays. The first crewed landing under the Artemis program is scheduled for 2028. By that time, initial equipment and supplies for the future base should already be delivered to the Moon. NASA has signed contracts with American companies to develop lunar landers, rovers, and drones for the construction of the base near the south pole of the Moon.
