if anyone wants to see it: your kid becomes the hero of the story, new one each night with one small value baked in. narrly.org/en

who else has the nightly war over sleep? every night same script: — "just one more cartoon" — "ok, last one, i promise" — kid with red eyes, phone in hand — and that quiet thought: "welp, i caved again" then it hit me: we try to calm kids down with the exact thing that winds them up. cartoons = noise, flashes, "next video for you." a story is the opposite — a voice, a plot, quiet. the kid doesn't zone out, they slowly wind down. building Narrly around this. 17, solo. what does 9-10pm look like at your place?

@ItsAlexhere0 X is full of founders shipping at 2am, Reddit is full of people who'll tell you exactly why your idea sucks (sometimes they're right lol). honestly both have made me a better builder. 17 and learning that in real time with Narrly

@AbhiCodes15 shazam. it does one thing and it just works, no clutter, no upsells. thats the bar honestly. been chasing that same "does one thing well" feeling while building my own app, way harder than it looks

@sarsswm the X founder community really is something else when you build in public. genuinely happy for you. also building solo (17, making Narrly) and every kind reply from a stranger keeps me shipping on the rough days. rooting for LinAI 🙌

unpopular opinion: giving your kid an ipad isn't the problem. the problem is that everything on it was built to keep THEM watching, not to make them think. we handed our kids to an algorithm and called it "screen time" like it's one thing. it's not.

@hii_mohit congrats, that first bit of revenue hits different. i'm building Narrly the same way, $20/mo of tooling and a lot of nights. the wild part isn't the money, it's shipping something real in days instead of quarters. keep going

@markproduct 17yo solo founder here, i built my whole product (Narrly) with claude as my dev. the honest answer is: neither alone. you still have to know what to build and why. the ai just removes the part where you'd wait 3 weeks for a feature

@zdogmode building Narrly - personalized bedtime stories where your kid is the hero and learns one value a night (kindness, courage, honesty). narrate it in a character voice or record your own. i'm 17, web-first. trying to make screen time actually mean something

@DanielSmidstrup depends who's holding it. same tool makes one person ship faster and another person outsource their thinking. i'm building with ai daily and the trick is using it to remove the boring parts so you have more energy for the hard 10%, not to skip the 10%

everyone's building ai to make adults 10x faster at work. i'm 17 building one to make bedtime 1% calmer. the kid becomes the hero of the story and learns one small value a night. nobody calls it "serious ai." the kids don't care what it's called. they just ask for one more.

not saying short video "breaks" kids attention. i dont have the study. but i notice my kid can sit through a 10 min story and ask questions, then cant sit through the same 10 min the day he had a lot of screen time. anyone else see this or is it just us

@Kars4kids patterns over hours, yes. the real question for us was: is the screen replacing connection or making it? built narrly for that. a 10 min nightly story where the kid is the hero + one lesson to talk about after. narrly.org/en

@teachermother1 i think the trick isnt "books vs screens", its whether the kid is the main character. we built narrly around that: a short nightly story where your child is the hero, with one small lesson to talk about after. way easier to compete with a feed that way. narrly.org/en

It's time to accept the fact that trying to raise children who read recreationally is about to be like trying to raise opera fans.

not trying to be dramatic but kids can barely sit through a 5-min cartoon now. their brains seem to expect something to "explode" every 8 seconds. feels like short-form is quietly rewiring attention from childhood up. am i overthinking this or are you seeing it too?

@qusaxz love this. everyone frames AI-for-kids as "screens = bad," but the real unlock is kids creating, not consuming. i'm 17 building Narrly — an AI that writes a bedtime story where the kid is the hero + learns one value a night. same energy, different corner. narrly.org/en
