I spent $157 on cold Meta ads to see if total strangers would subscribe to my new marketing newsletter. My cost per subscriber shocked me. Thread below 🧪

Next experiment: Try to get cost per subscriber under $1. If I can, I will scale hard.

Biggest takeaway: The hook that worked on my warm audience also worked on cold strangers. Huge relief.

Final cost: $1.57 per subscriber.

I'm going to sell 200K+ copies of my new marketing book by running experiments and documenting them in public. Experiment 1: Test my book's opening hook by posting it on social media to get early supporters on Substack. Here’s what happened: 57 subscribers 1 paid subscriber I didn't expect someone to pay this early (thanks, mom!). Next experiment: Running the same hook with paid Instagram ads and documenting what happens.

Just start reading this book, The Self-taught Programmer by @coryalthoff, on the weekend. There are tasks that need to be done, but when I start reading for a change, it's interesting and I tend to forget about the tasks. Just another half hour...
