I just realized why all of my FEA models are trash:
I’m the target of a sophisticated and sustained cyber-physical sabotage campaign attributable only to a nation-state adversary with near unlimited resources
hanlon’s mortola razr@rhizomaticthot
the fast16 malware was almost certainly targeting spherical implosion simulations. left: unmodified LS-DYNA 970 right: LS-DYNA 970 modified with the relevant portions of fast16.sys both running a spherical implosion deck

Got my Ares internship thru 𝕏, got fired from SpaceX thru 𝕏, got hired at Orbital from my boss seeing my 𝕏 post.
I’m lifetime up baby.

The value of an X account can be measured by what doors it opens for you in real life.

@LukeLuk10574362 cheap electric linear actuators
they have a decent amount of backlash but work well enough for our purpose
English

@kegrocket its closer to +/- 20deg, constrained by the tierod ends at the ends of each actuator
we only use +/- 10deg in software tho
English

@YikesItsTim Looks like its got capacity for +/- 40 degrees

This mini lathe blows my mind more and more every day. I can’t believe how much machining I can do on this thing

Had lots of issues getting the DMLS powder out of assemblies like this. Whatever you do don't flow liquid until you know with 100% certainty the trapped powder is out. I ended up making a fixture that would pressurize the bottom and open one an only one upper hole where I could verify dry airflow (dry nitrogen best, really dry compressed air if you cant...) Had to clear passages with stainless wire or pipe cleaners.... a lot of hand work.

Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

fully sheet metal rocket engine? @emm0sh
i'm thinking rolled sheet metal, separate chamber, converging, diverging sections
thin lasercut strips for the cooling channel ribs
some kind of tab system for alignment
the internal welds would be the hard part
