What should a good ending do in a story?

Writers: when you receive a DM from another author (based on their profile) asking what genre you write in or how your writing journey is so far … do you ignore automatically, assuming they are a marketing scammer, or engage in case it’s a genuine question?

Haven’t had much time to think about posting, been focusing on copywriting, my book, and work. Still hopping on once a day though.
