@Selkis_2028 @elonmusk Bruh … opinions are cool and all, but the only one that matters are debt buyers. they no likey. You can shake your fist at the clouds all you want. If they don’t buy, we f*ckd. Grow our way out of it? Growth is not up only. Fallacy in growth saves us argument. Helps bot solve.

A broker I swore I would never do business with after he did me dirty, just called me to tell me the seller of a development site I offered on years ago would probably accept my offer if I resubmitted. This property was always the one that got away. Do I push my pride aside and do the deal?

OK. Here's the issue. There is a strong argument that Ukraine is THE climactic battle of the Thucydides Trap. That is: the big war between the US and China is actually between their proxies Ukraine and Russia. And this settlement — to this war — determines the next world order. Because there won’t be a fight in Taiwan if NATO is defeated in Ukraine. Taiwan will just surrender to China because they know they won't get reliable Western military support. And so will everyone else. So, this may be the decisive moment when terms get negotiated with the China/Russia group for the next however many years. That means that even if you think Ukraine was a disaster and Zelensky is a dummy, you don’t want NATO to be catastrophically defeated in Kiev like it was in Afghanistan. That would be bad for Democrats, Republicans, Europeans, Japanese — just about everyone under the US security umbrella. Instead you want the best possible outcome to this terrible war, under the circumstances. Because the West may already have fallen into the Thucydides Trap. And if so, it should very carefully think about whether it can get out.

Jason just lies to his followers whenever he feels embarrassed, always blocking replies from anyone who doesn't give him money. For example, accusing my cofounder of photoshopping his fat mug - in reality, it is a screenshot from his CNBC interview!
@jason@Jason

And now @mttgrmm, @PalmerLuckey's partner, is using a photoshopped photo of me being twice as fat as I ever was AND trying to slander me by insinuating that I was involved with Epstein. Matt knows full well that I wasn't, that I've said I wasn't, and that there is no new news here. Like thousands of others, I met Epstein in NYC and TED in the 1990s. I am in his black book, which has been out for a decade and has hundreds of TED/Tech/finance/New Yorkers in it. I am not in the flight logs because I never flew on his plane. I never went to his island, and I probably talked to him for 30 minutes in my whole life. ... but sure, go ahead and slander me, Matt. I know you're ride-or-die for your partner, and I respect that to a degree.

The All In pod is now totally un-listen-able. The banter is so unfunny / awkward / cringey. The content is all political (even business news has a political bent) and the takes are tired. Other than Friedberg, none of the hosts is likable. Overall bummer. Used to be a banger.

@VigilantFox Possibly true for federal crimes that the pardon covers. Absolutely not true for state crimes that the pardon does not cover.

NEW: Joe Rogan says Fauci’s pardon could actually BACKFIRE on him. “He’s pre-pardoned federally, but he’s not pre-pardoned state-wise. These states can still sue him. Not only that, when you’re pardoned, you can no longer plead the Fifth, so you could be held for perjury.” With a federal pardon in place, This means Fauci would be forced to testify without Fifth Amendment protection—opening the door to perjury charges if he gets caught lying. So, the very pardon meant to shield Fauci could actually become his legal trap. Let’s see which prosecutors have the courage to hold him accountable.

@lex_node Under the PWG scope and the Crypto Czar’s initial speech on market structure, memes are collectibles and specifically mentioned in a separate category from commodities/CFTC. Doubtful that agency claims jurisdiction.

As with Blockfi, Celsius, Luna, SBF, Altman, GBTC, and Genesis, there’s a point where “education” isn’t productive. I try to warn when it’s useful, I move on when it’s not. At some point if people can’t or don’t want to see, there’s nothing productive to do around convincing them they’re being (or about to be) exploited. I’m human and sometimes just debate emotionally or reactively, but point is - I’m going to try to make this my last general post on the topic of the risks of populist fascism. We’re just going to have to navigate it. Done with “warning”, on to just productive action.

@RalstonReports You traditional media vanguards are like the dinosaurs after a meteor struck earth. Continuing to live (in your case, pontificate) as if the world didn’t change forever. Your version of media got hit with a mass extinction event. Maybe don’t scream at the smoky clouds.

@MarkHalperin Come on mark! Go deeper. You’re better than that. If a govt you cover daily is spending millions on subscriptions for inside info on ITSELF that it can decide “not to renew” at any time….and 95% of those subs magically start at the beginning of Biden’s term….

I will talk about this more on "2WAY Tonight" at 8pm ET this evening, but all of the questions and confusion causes me to weigh in now. Governments at all levels pay to subscribe to all sorts of publications. In the olden days, that mean hard copy magazines and newspapers; today, it is largely digital products. Of course, as in the private sector, governments at all levels have cut back dramatically on what they pay to subscribe to. But there are still some paid subscriptions. There are two issues, one fake and one real. The fake one is that Politico & others are somehow doing something wrong by selling their products and services to the government. They are in the business of selling content and there is nothing wrong from the supply side in selling to governments, including the federal government. The real issue is whether the taxpayers should be paying for such things. Since, for example, the New York Times and Wall Street Journal often know more than the government does, if I ran the CIA, I would want my station chiefs to have access to those paid products. But at a time of huge deficits and a mandate to cut spending, all such spending on "periodicals" should be scrutinized. That is the demand side part of this. Red America is either on purpose or by accident conflating these two questions. If it is the former, it is obvious what their motives are. If it is the latter, please stop!
