Prone to illness throughout his life, Emperor Augustus suffered from bronchiectasis, asthma, tuberculosis, and diarrheal disease. Whereas Tiberius, according to Suetonius, was in better health and was wary of doctors. But he had poor vision, suffered from bowel colic, and possibly had gallstones.
