Ram Introduces 2027 Rampage With New Flex-Fuel Turbo Engine. While the name might sound familiar, this is not the same Hurricane4 found in the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL). Instead, this is a flex-fuel evolution of Stellantis’ proven GME-T4 engine, specifically engineered to run on gasoline, ethanol, or any blend of the two. That flexibility is a big deal in markets like Brazil, where ethanol is widely available and often more affordable. For Ram, it also represents a strategic move to better tailor its products to regional demands. Under the hood, the new Turbo Hurricane4 Flex delivers a solid 272 horsepower and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque regardless of whether it’s running on gasoline or ethanol. That consistency is key, especially in a segment where performance and efficiency both matter. To make this engine work seamlessly with biofuels, Stellantis engineers went through an extensive list of upgrades. The turbocharger, fuel system, engine calibration, and even internal components like the intake manifold and cylinder head were all reworked. An ethanol sensor has also been added, allowing the engine to automatically adjust based on the fuel mixture in the tank. The end result is a powertrain that maintains durability and performance while giving drivers more fueling options. It’s a practical solution for everyday use in South America, where fuel availability and pricing can vary significantly.
