@YuanshengFeng The desire for self determination is a fundamental concept few Chinese people will ever comprehend. The reason is thousands of years of Chinese history conditioning Chinese people to submit to higher authority and accept it. To them, subjugation is the path to order and safety.

@YuanshengFeng @benlandautaylor Yes. You can count me as one of those people. I regard self-sacrifice as immoral, and I'm very conscious about it. And I would therefore never call myself "evil". Because I instead view my morality to be good - or, in truth, as a set of guidelines meant to achieve good.

Occasionally I run into people who explicitly describe themselves as evil, and as far as I can tell these people are always correct. At first this surprised me. I imagined they were doing it to be shocking or something and didn't really mean it. There are some nearby things which are often fine, like when someone does the "There are some unfortunate harsh truths about how the world works" routine, and I first I assumed this was similar. But over time I've come to believe that if someone describes themselves or their work using words like "evil" or "demonic", these are ~always actually bad people, and it's better to keep your distance. I don't really get why they choose to say these things, but it turns out to be as big a red flag as it naively seems.

@benlandautaylor I don't think I've ever met anyone who describes himself, or believes himself to be, evil. Though I have met people, myself included, who believe they are good, but that their goodness could be labeled evil (or at least immoral) by certain moral standards. Is there a difference?

No enough reason for China to join the game. China will provide economic, equipment and intelligence help. But China will not be directly involved in foreign wars as the US expects it to be - unless China is directly threatened. We sat out of Ukraine. We sat out of Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan. We only care about Taiwan and don't want to waste a single soldier on anything other than getting ready for Taiwan.

I keep seeing stuff about how highly educated or ambitious women are intimidating to men and it just….isnt true? I’ve done like 4 studies on this and every time men view it as a neutral or positive. The issue with these women is almost always something else.
