Grok! Remove those signal dropout lines! Not even 2 seconds later, there's the result. Sure it involves fudging but it's still impressive. Both ChatGPT and Gemini 3 will do this, but only sporadically and not in a repeatable manner. METEOR M2-3 as received with my ground station here in Vancouver today. @wimo_de TA-1 Turnstile antenna, @Nooelec LNA and SDR. @BCNewsAddict @RyanVoutilainen @spann @Weatherman2709 @ZSsixSHN @ZL3GAV @HowesNathan

Three amateur radio balloons being tracked with my home 20 m WSPR monitoring station. Each image features one of the balloons and its maximum signal reach over the past 24 h. @K3TripleR @ZSsixSHN @ZL3GAV @N4JAW

Back-to-back G5 storms is just Crazy! We are getting hit by the solar storm that was launched with the X4-flare on November 14. (See the first image). Here at Earth, the impact from this storm is much weaker than at STEREO-A, but the speed is still quite fast! This means we could see some aurora building sporadically over the next few hours for those who have clear skies! G1 conditions are possible. The longer these conditions last, the more likely aurora could dip to mid-latitudes again! The fact that this eruption was seen hitting STEREO-A over the last 24 hours means, not only is the storm incredibly wide (far more than the average ICME) but it is driving a huge compression region. This compression region is helping to create the enormous wake we are seeing that is hitting Earth. Plus, the low-inclination orientation of the structure (SEN at STEREO) is just perfect to ensure its widest extent is near the ecliptic plane where we are. This is why we are seeing the wake of the core now. (See the second image from STEREO-A for details.) Calculating the average speed of this structure from the Sun to the orbit of STEREO-A means the bulk of the structure was moving at more than **1200km/s!** That average speed and the sheer intensity of the sheath (or draping field) region ahead of the ICME core means that this would likely have been yet another G5 had it hit Earth head-on. There is a good chance it would have been bigger than the one we did get hit with, especially with the strong B_T component (the white trace). That component is equivalent to -By and it would have driven the currents in Earth's magnetic tail very, very hard. Incidentally, the B_N component (yellow trace) is like Bz and the B_R component (blue trace) is equivalent to Bx. We should be very thankful we did not have to endure this one head on, especially after the one we just endured. Two back-to-back G5s are not to be taken lightly, even if the aurora dazzles.

I was looking for an easy-to-understand visual representation of the DX forecast, starting with the 10-meter band, to eliminate the complexity of manually checking multiple data sources. This is my first draft. Behind it is a data-driven AI engine that uses a whole range of external data sources. I have developed a new DX index, which is displayed on a scale of 1 to 100. Published as soon as it is ready.

WOW! For the moment, we have reached G5-level storm conditions. Not as strong as the Gannon Storm of May 10-11, 2024, but this #solarstorm is packing a punch! We still have two more yet to go, so let's hope we get a small break between them to allow the power grids a rest!

My Morse Code Journey so far: Started early October. So far I have learnt 41 characters and can copy at 25wpm / 3wpm Farnsworth above 90% accuracy. Tried lots of software but adore G4FON CW Trainer. Decided not to do a course. Learning at my own relaxed speed my own way!
