#edutwitter Over the last three years, I have been completing my masters alongside teaching full-time. If any of you are teachers in the UK and can spare 15 minutes to help me out, I would appreciate if you could complete the linked questionnaire: forms.gle/qVbfzW5pZbecQw…

What impact does the inclusion of tier 2 vocabulary in mathematics GCSEs have on students with EAL? forms.gle/G4yJEYgNAWoNiw… If you can spare 10-15 minutes by completing the above questionnaire, you will help me in answering this question (and others) as part of my MA. Thanks!

Does the language in GCSE Mathematics exams disadvantage students with EAL? #edutwitter If you are a secondary school teacher in the UK and can spare 15-20 mins to answer my Masters questionnaire, I hope to provide an answer to the question above. Thanks docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…

I am looking to find out what are teachers perceptions of the inclusion of Tier Two Vocabulary in GCSE mathematics papers. Please share this survey as I would love as many responses as possible, not just by maths teachers.

@MISSNTEACHING I've felt like this since I started back after the summer. If you find the magic solution, please share - I swear I've tried everything (secondary)

@jennbeams @Gwenelope So my school does a parents day. It runs from 1pm till 7:30pm, and is for 3 year groups. It happens twice a year. There are no lessons in the morning, and teachers aren't expected to be in much before 1pm. There are ways to make it better.

One of my tutee’s mum is a secondary school science teacher, and she has a parents evening tonight, from 3pm until 8pm. FIVE HOURS,& the teachers MUST stay for the entire duration.Madness. Come ON schools, you can do some tangible things about teacher retention. This ain’t it.

@PatriciaOLynn However you have made a claim about research you've undertaken that disagrees with the statement, yet are not willing to back up your claim by sharing the actual research. twitter.com/PatriciaOLynn/…
Dr Patricia O'Lynn@PatriciaOLynn

@tombennett71 In my research, children were excluded for wearing the wrong shoes, turning up to school late due to caring responsibilities, having an older sibling who caused disruption, being illiterate and unable to answer questions correctly and other violations that come with poverty.

How disheartening is it to see someone with such a high profile, and high level of influence creating a binary discourse about the complex process and causes of school exclusion. This narrative is damaging to both teachers and students and should not be endorsed or promoted.
Tom Bennett OBE@tombennett71

This. It’s never ‘for asking questions,’ or, ‘I was just laughing.’ It’s not for not having a pencil. It’s because students attack teachers, bully kids into hell, ruin months of lessons, smash up rooms, tell teachers to f*ck off, and behave in a way literally no one could tolerate in their own work.

@emmccatt One to eat hot or cold: Dry roasted potatoes, carrots and red onion. Roasted kale. Toasted almonds. Balsamic vinegar. I sometimes also add veggie bacon.

The term ‘formative assessment’ has become so misunderstood that in many cases it is being used in completely the wrong way, argues @shirleyclarke_ as she explains the most common misunderstandings tes.com/magazine/teach…

@Alemap63 @agrindrod1 @NEUnion There's definitely support - we had parents and students joining us on the picket line. We also had a lovely local deliver bacon sandwiches to us all whilst we were out.

Yesterday we started posting the thousands of responses we have received from MPs to our #SaveOurSchools campaign and that will continue this morning and over the coming days. Here’s a reminder of what one Tory MP thinks of teachers.

@carla4444444 @Thinkingschool2 I don't know of any schools that start teaching at 7:20am? Most are between 8:30 and 9:00. Children also get a lot more breaks than is legally required by workplace laws for adults.

@Thinkingschool2 There are laws to protect adults, if we're worked more than 40 hours a week they have to pay us overtime, which discourages employers. Where is that same protection for children? Kids schooling from 7:20am in the morning until 3:20pm is already an 8 hour work day.

If the school day isn't enough to provide a great education for our students, then question the curriculum. Homework should not be required.

@Doozykins @Mobius__Trip @KKNTeachLearn I believe a lot of education unions (including the NEU) who support non teaching educational staff have a hardship fund if the strike is going to affect you financially. To me it sounds like you would have a case if you applied. Sending love x
