@ZackDroidCoder unfortunately one of the developers on unleashedrecomp was running a sonic porn server and turned the porn server into a personal server, inviting minors to the server and opening it up to all ages after the recomp, without removing the porn from the server at all.

Yeah, in an ideal where AI isn't as massive as it is right now, sure. But like right now, this doesn't make AI's existence fine because the main issues still stand which is the usual environment and neighborhoods, and a majority of new programmers using AI for vibecoding instead of learning properly

@ZackDroidCoder like you said it happens with or without AI all the time. It's a skill diff for sure, but I mean if no one else wants to make a recomp, and someone else CAN with some AI help. It might be worthwhile for that person to do that.

Programmer here, the reason why having AI generated or assisted code is bad is because the further you go with it the more convoluted and messy the entire thing is. It will start making up bullshit and buzzwords in order to sound smart when in reality all it did was break stuff or do unnecessary extra work. There's a reason why it's so easy to clock AI generated code within seconds. By the end of the day its just a big machine that takes noise and tries to make it make sense and not actual critical thinking. THE ONLY USE you can give to AI is just being a search engine, because google butchered theirs but thats because of AI itself now isn't it? Also the environment.

@Nobafka Unfortunately this might be true as alot of companies require you to do that and pay you less in return. Hence why AI should just go at this point :/

@ZackDroidCoder Yes, I agree, that's why my game is also AI-free, but fighting this war is impossible, the market has changed and if you want to work PROFESSIONALLY outside of game development, you'll use AI, unless... you want to be homeless.

I work on the other end of the spectrum which is game development. I personally am such a fat fucking nerd I WOULD read full documentations and other huge batches of text because I enjoy them. About the others, I don’t speak for them, but the main issue is people who vibecode their whole careers into the dump instead of learning or using AI in a nice fashion. IMO Game developers, passion projects, and people who just got introduced to programming without any prior knowledge have no wiggle room for them to use AI compared to expert engineers working on like Linux, or someone who’s making a big engine like Unity. And the other issue being the environment and people’s neighborhoods and livelihoods.

@ZackDroidCoder Fair points up until the "muh environment" part if you're going to get mad at data centres for "environmental" reasons also bring up things like the meat & dairy industry, gas companies, coal mining and single use plastics

You just sound like you're bad at using AI. You need to provide: - problemspace context - codebase documentation - system logs - architectural planning - intended outcome - periodic refactoring and incremental improvement opportunities A majority of people also suck at coding without those. A large portion of people suck at coding even WITH those things.

I have used it, my experience was this, no matter how much I tell the AI it keeps making up classes and functions from the engines Ive used, mad I went ahead and did it my self, then I realized I did not even need it. Then I grew to realize that AI has damaged real living people and their circumstances who happen to live near a newly data center. Worded it enough for you?
