Nearly 50,000 people in the Lake Tahoe area have been told that their utility will stop providing power to them, because it's redirecting that power to data centers.
NV Energy, the Nevada utility that has supplied most of Lake Tahoe’s electricity for decades, says that next year it will stop servicing homes in the area, and instead direct that electricity to the growing demand from Nevada data centers.
Northern Nevada is one of the fastest-growing data-center corridors in the country.

The man must have done/did unacceptable, dehumanizing things to fellow human beings he viewed as racially inferior, we can say that without exaggerating his role in those efforts.

@TheGayChingy @JosephDAmelioJr Officer? Ozu was a conscripted corporal then sergeant (came in as cpl because in the 20s he’d been conscripted for a year). He didn’t lead a unit. What he did to comfort women, what he must have done as a conscript in a chemical warfare unit is unacceptable, but this is false.

@JosephDAmelioJr I am aware of the compulsory military service at the time but yes i do see a difference between being simply conscripted vs him being an officer who led a unit doing as you say.

Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. As we honor the 1.5 million Armenians murdered by the Ottoman Empire across modern-day Turkey, Syria, and Armenia, we must refuse to let history repeat itself.
In 2020, the military forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey attacked the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh. In 2023, Azerbaijan expelled over 100,000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, continuing the genocidal campaign that had begun over 100 years prior.
On this day of remembrance, we reaffirm the right of the Armenian people — and all people — to freedom, safety, and self-determination.
