Earlier today I was telling a broker that we have $100M to deploy, buy strip centers all-cash, etc.
He was polite, but bored.
His colleague then turned to him and told him I was behind the “StripMallGuy” account.
His eyes lit up.
“I have to find you deals!!”
Serious question:
It would be socially awkward to mention the account during meetings - but it changes the entire dynamic of the conversation.
How do I solve this problem?

@yacineMTB Calm down. You are enjoying something. This too shall pass.

@adamislucky what I hate about X is I have Nick/Smellystarup on my blocked list but he still shows up in my feed via screenshots like this 🤬SMH
English

Tough to see when the greats are reduced to a shell of themselves.
I remember a time when Nick would put out real bait, the type that would grab hold of you, the type that would reach down and stir something inside of your stomach. Tomato farms, decks, ladders, holding your boys back in school, not allowing your girls to go to school. The real stuff that makes America great but this is just sad. This is grasping. Pour one out for bolt storage.

@shawngorham It’s marketing be fore the vote. Like a big press push before a movie release. Very necessary for the film success otherwise they wouldn’t justify the added expense and effort.
English

@justalexoki Best X post of the year. This is why we are all here. Nice work we needed this.

Fixing your argument to an idea that’s trending into obscurity. You don’t seem open to discussion and instead simply arguing one viewpoint that is more reactive than relevant. The academic relationship to plagiarism is only a small part of the bigger impacts AI will have on human creative output. Updated thinking will be needed.
English

@ZapLasso @WrnrWrites oh the groundless condescension of twitter anons...
Minimally stochastic systems will 'memorize' output, especially excerpts that are overrepresented in training data. This has diminished with model complexity, but not yet disappeared.

@rinireg @WrnrWrites It’s definitely more likely they copied and pasted famous text. Ai is trained on original works but won’t recite the original work word for word without extreme deliberate effort. You’re in the correct neighborhood of the argument yet you’re walking down the wrong street.
English

@ZapLasso @WrnrWrites What is more likely? That a student intentionally submitted copy-paste from a famous source, or accidentally did so by copy-pasting from an AI they did not realize had 'memorized' such a source?
The distinction itself is sensible, see: the-tls.com/regular-featur…
English

@rinireg @WrnrWrites I think you are referring to general plagiary. Just because something is plagiarized doesn’t mean it’s written by AI. That distinction is important when discussing the merits of an AI detector vs plagiary detector.
English

@WrnrWrites eh... if someone sent you that text in the year 2026, would you assume (1) that they are a rando who grabbed it from some crappy low-stochasm AI, or (2) that they are Mary Shelley back from the dead? Contextually, seems like this detector is getting it right.
English

@xwonde6 @MarioNawfal Can you also help me with my python scripting?
English

@MarioNawfal Hershey’s didn’t just swap cocoa butter for vegetable oil—they turned chocolate into edible plastic surgery. Stretchy, fake, and somehow still more disappointing than American chocolate usually is. Congrats, you’ve officially made taffy-flavored sadness.
English

@SnazzyLabs Now sell it to the record player company! I want to use it too.
English

@ZapLasso @mweinbach You clearly have no idea how tech business operates. You don't diversify in tech. You specialize, you make processes efficient, you need to hunt for sales and maintain sales. It's highly competitive, you can't just "raise prices".
English

@irvfig1995 @13Calendar This seems like the best argument against the idea so far
English

@13Calendar Having a birthday permanently on a Tuesday is miserable lol
English

@balatroist @mweinbach They can and have raised prices while also diversifying. Solving for the business constraints.
English

@mweinbach @ZapLasso Yup. That's true. Businesses need to make money though. This includes NVidia. And if they have always been selling to China legally and you cut off their main customer, what do you want a business to do? They either shutdown or you force them to do something "illegal".
English

@balatroist @mweinbach GPU = Intelligence generator
Smuggling guns and drugs is actually a good analogy.
English

@mweinbach The funny thing is nothing criminal actually happened. It's not smuggling drugs or smuggling guns. This is "smuggling gpus". Like seriously only a dumb country like the USA can make such rules and treat it as something "criminal". This was all legal until 2022.
