בנימה אישית: בן הזוג שלי, קצין במילואים שחזר אתמול מהר הרצל מאזכרות של 6 חברים שלו שנפלו בלבנון, כולם אגב היו דתיים. ניהלנו שיחה נעימה עם שני בני 18 שדפקו לנו על הדלת ושאלנו אותם למה הם לא מתגייסים. לכל מי שכתב לי שביזיתי אותם - על דבר אחד אנחנו מסכימים. לא להתגייס לצבא בתקופה כמו זו - זה בהחלט דבר להתבייש בו.

A reminder that non-dynastic leaders in the region who engaged in dynastic behaviors, preparing or letting their sons take over - Mubarak, Saddam Hussein, Kaddafi, Assad - did not exactly do well for themselves or their countries. A Khameini dynastic succession is a fail sign.

As you read this, an Iranian missile has just struck a residential neighborhood in Beit Shemesh, Israel, only 30 kilometers/about 18 miles from Jerusalem. Nine people are dead. More than 20 are wounded, including children. A public shelter collapsed from the direct hit. An entire street is devastated: eight homes destroyed, windows shattered for blocks around. Rescue teams are still searching for survivors in the rubble. A young girl is fighting for her life in the hospital. This isn’t a distant headline. This is what happens when a regime obsessed with terror and destruction is allowed to develop and launch missiles with impunity. Hundreds of missiles and drones have been fired at Israel in the last hours. Today’s victims were just ordinary people, running for cover, trusting that a shelter would keep them safe. And Europe? Most leaders are silent. Maybe they’ll issue a statement after the weekend. Maybe they’ll notice when the next missile lands closer to home. But Iranian missiles can already reach European capitals. The technology that killed families in Beit Shemesh today could just as easily shatter lives in Athens, Vienna, Paris, or Berlin. How many more innocent people need to die before the world wakes up? Silence is complicity. May their memory be a blessing.

Iran launched two missiles toward Cyprus, an EU member with British military bases (NATO member). Israel intercepted them. Aside from a few brave leaders, most EU officials are still silent, they say they'll discuss it after the weekend, also there is a holiday in Spain (Day of the Balearic Islands), soon comes Easter, and after that, summer vacation and no one is in town during la vacance. Maybe they'll find time to respond before Christmas! The Europeans forget that Iran has developed ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads that can reach Western Europe, specifically to threaten Europe.

Helping the people of Gaza start a new chapter free from the tyranny of Hamas is a critical mission to prevent future death and destruction for Israelis and Palestinians. This will also eliminate a flashpoint manipulated by disingenuous actors to mobilized antisemitism and other forms of division and hatred. We are trying new approaches, hoping to achieve new outcomes. This is an end, but also a new beginning.
