MORTAL KOMBAT had an excellent start in pre-sales yesterday. It’s now tracking to open to $40M-$50M domestic, potentially 2x as much the 2021 movie ($23M).

@johnnyjohnjon83 @GlobalBoxOffice There's nothing misleading. It's just stats. The frst one was sucessful despite Covid. Thus, the 2nd one has a bigger budget, bigger marketing campaign, and is tracking well. Again, this is a good thing.

But you can’t tell that, so no it’s not showing growth… the 1st was released simultaneously on a streaming service at a time most things like movie theaters were closed, for all we know it could just be the same.. it’s an unfair comp because society was vastly different in 2021 compared to now

@HeylKatme probably but i kinda don't think spielberg cares? he's 79 years old and very likely doesn't have a lot of movies left in him either way. this feels like a Megalopolis situation where his #1 priority is love of the game, whereas "make money" is somewhat far down the list

I'd love to be wrong but it feels like Disclosure Day has bomb written all over it
