@SpannersReady Leclerc is finding out how good Hamilton is at getting the team to rally around him. Alonso found out, Rosberg found out. Only guy who played the intra-team politics as well as #44 was Button.

@matthewstoller I think Silicon Valley’s models have learned from and adopted much of what makes Deepseek so energy efficient, at least that is what they say. It was an eye opener a year and a half ago, but they haven’t sat on their hands all this time

The lessons here are (1) it was never about beating China and (2) our national AI strategy is a catastrophic failure by its own terms, and not because of Mythos/Fable. If China can rival our almost best with 1000 times less compute that shows we prioritize inefficiency.
Alex Stamos@alexstamos

It's been two weeks and the leading US model, Fable, is still banned by the White House with no explicit Congressional Authorization, no written rule that was broken, and no technical justification. In the meantime, our Chinese adversaries released a model that rivals our best.

@matthewstoller I don’t think that’s necessarily true. Deepseek was much more power efficient, but the American models took note and have incorporated much of that, while still maintaining an edge

And when his AI models succeed and make him money you will turn around and demand he is taxed and regulated. Your class of people never build anything and should never be allowed near the controls of anything.
Matt Stoller@matthewstoller

Mark Zuckerberg burns $100 billion a year on dork glasses and failed AI models. I don't ever want to hear about waste in government again until you acknowledge corporate America is far far more wasteful.

Much has been made about how integral the Israel lobby was in the MAGA 2024 coalition but now that things may not being going 100% their way the Times Of Israel lays out the next step "Israel must rebuild support among Democrats"

@CraigMurrayOrg 💯 USA was the stronger team today, but the refs were determined to pend a helping hand

USA looked a better team than Australia but every single marginal refereeing decision was given to USA. Left a bad taste.

Alexi Lalas obviously sucks in a very specific way but it's also a very revealing look into American sports commentary that European legends of the game do nuanced tactical analysis while Lalas' job is to just be like "Jude Bellingham does NOT have the clutch gene!!!"

The dynamic between Henry, Zlatan, and Alexi Lalas is a WILD watch. Lalas spews awful analysis (always has) but delivers it with the confidence of a great, without the acumen Zlatan is in a world of his own confidence-wise and Henry clearly has no respect for either of the other’s opinions. No chemistry, tons of ego, 10/10

If I ran an F1 team my number 2 driver would be a goon enforcer. A rolling road block with chariot spikes who is 100% dedicated to supporting the main driver. Wild specialist setups and strategies that are fully annoying to rivals. Things like lower fuel. no need to finish race. riskier engine modes. strategies that are only useful for blocking or destabilising rivals. Could run specialist set ups for specific roles required on the day. run full qualifying weighted set ups to control things from the front. maximise straight line speed when it's hard to overtake. so many options are possible if that driver understands their role. Salary would be 20 million and they would be a hero in the team. You'd have your pick of talented aggressive drivers that weren't going to make F1 otherwise. they'd be a warrior knight on a stead of rubber

The "For You" tab on this platform sucks. The first TWELVE posts on it right now are Israelis screaming at Trump and neocons screaming at Trump. That is not "For Me"

@mtaibbi I agree with Matt. Born and raised in The Netherlands, in-person voting was the norm as was voter ID. This is normal accepted practice in most democratic nations, no idea why this is so controversial among Dems in the US. Mail by vote was only for overseas nationals

I’m a Trumper because I think people should vote in person (or have a reason if they don’t)? This was standard pretty much everywhere in America before Trump

@mtaibbi Hmm. . . man you really have gone off the deep end. Is there an address that I can return the books you wrote. You are not that same person who wrote about injustice, now you are a Trumper.

Daniel Penny snuck up behind an innocent Black man who never touched anyone, and choked him to death while claiming self defense. This happened in New York that has some of the strictest self-defense laws and a duty to retreat. Penny was still acquitted & paraded around like a hero. Karmelo defended himself from a physical assault in Texas-a state with the most expansive Stand Your Ground laws, with NO duty to retreat. And he gets a murder conviction. The only difference in these cases is the enforcement is governed by systemic white supremacy

@ZephNutz Just because he is performing well doesn't make him not a rookie for Mercedes. He is still learning. So he is considered a rookie. Even Lewis Hamilton was a rookie when he won the World Championship.

😂 One more win for Kimi Antonelli and he equals George Russell’s ENTIRE career total! Antonelli already has 5 wins in just his rookie season (including yesterday’s dominant Monaco masterclass). George Russell — in his 8th season with Mercedes — sits on 6 career wins. If the 19-year-old wins Barcelona this weekend… he matches his teammate’s full F1 haul 😂 The intra-Mercedes story in 2026 is getting wild. Russell is under serious pressure while Antonelli looks unstoppable in the new regs era. Who else is finding this hilarious (or painful if you’re a GR fan)? Drop your thoughts 👇 #F1 #Antonelli #Mercedes #BarcelonaGP #MonacoGP

🚨 Kimi BREAKS George 🚨 George Russell was lucky in some ways that Lewis Hamilton never adapted to the zero-pod concept - that high centre of gravity, forward-leaning seating position over the front axle, and chronically weak rear end of the Mercedes W13 through W15. Now that the F1 zero-pod era is over, Toto Wolff appears to have accepted the new reality: George Russell is firmly the number two driver at Mercedes. Russell himself seems to understand the brief - maximize points and stay out of Kimi Antonelli’s way. Kimi Antonelli has broken George Russell mentally. The only way George can out-qualify him these days is with a cheeky last-second Q3 flyer as the clock expires. No matter what he does, Kimi is right there - or quicker. Russell has looked off the pace in qualifying more often than not, and the pattern of needing last-gasp laps just to stay close (or getting beaten anyway) has been noticeable to Hamilton, Verstappen, and even Toto Wolff. The intra-team battles have been intense, but Kimi is clearly the leader now. It’s obvious that Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen see echoes of themselves in the young Italian, while Russell knows he’s there to fill the seat, feed data, and help develop the next superstar. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton sits second in the Formula 1 championship with multiple podiums and purple sectors in a sub-par Ferrari - exactly the kind of GOAT-level performance George Russell knows only Antonelli and Verstappen can realistically replicate.
