HTTPS won. End-to-end encryption won. VPNs won. Every time, the same pattern: "nobody needs this" → "only criminals use this" → everyone uses it. Encrypted money is next. It's not a question of if.

@AstraKernel I liked computers from my 14th till my 25 and now I don't really anymore. I used to love coding and setting up systems and now I don't. Passions die. Normal.

> large % of programmers don’t actually like computers. True. Many people are there for money > I don’t get it, at ALL. Don’t you *LIKE* understanding the magic of the machine? Some of us still do but doesnt mean you have to do all the time "hand"-programming
LaurieWired@lauriewired

I’m convinced that a large % of programmers don’t actually like computers. As a side effect, are also perfectly happy to throw away their reasoning to a model as soon as they can. I don’t get it, at ALL. Don’t you *LIKE* understanding the magic of the machine? You do realize hand-programming (I hate that I even have to specify hand now) is fun…right?

@randrewcworth Oh if my property taxes were anywhere near this cheap 😂 But yeah, the best thing you can do is change your outlook and try and appreciate the services and what not you get for the taxes. A nice city... I guess. Because the taxes aren't going away. May as well cope.

I own my own home outright (no mortgage) at 37 years old. However, these are my summer taxes alone in Michigan which is supposed to be affordable. Subtle reminder that you will own nothing and like it. This is dumb.

You should have a plan in place for yourself if BIP 110 creates a persistent Chain split.

@stack_toshi @CommunityNotes You guys are all latching onto the signaling blocks in an optional signaling period. Not sure if this is an organic thought or something that someone keeps telling you guys to repeat. It's nonsense. Let's see what the miners are doing on August 7th, when signaling is mandatory.

Where do these headlines come from? Can we get a community note? @CommunityNotes BIP110 support is at an all-time high, measured in every single metric. This is blatant propaganda.

Normies don't understand what AGI will actually be. They think their little digital marketing jobs where they crop Canva pictures and post on LinkedIn will actually be income for them five years from now. These people are going to get wiped out. It'll be a bloodbath. AGI is a drop in remote worker capable of doing anything on your computer faster, smarter and cheaper than humans, by many orders of magnitude. That means you turn the AGI on, it extracts all patterns and insights from all data you give it, as well as external sources, autonomously interviews everyone in your company, and learns - puts together the optimal strategy and then also implements it - at any given time, 24/7. None of us stand a chance. Someone asked me about a year ago 'so what's the next play? How do we play this?' You don't play this bro. You're not outsmarting a superintelligence. Just do whatever you want, none of it will matter post AGI.

Does that chart indicate the idea that we won't see the final low until January 2027? @camelfinance also said that cycle theory suggests that it will take longer than the more common idea of October. That would take so many people off guard. A low that comes after October would hurt most people and would lead to a wide capitulation... which makes it again more probable to me. What do you think @benjamincowen?

@PeterSchiff Demand will rise simply because of competition and scarcity. If Americans don’t buy it, China will. If China doesn’t, Russia will. And if not Russia, someone else will.

All of the price forecasts for Bitcoin assume demand rises. But why should it? Most people who own Bitcoin are losing money. When investors in Bitcoin get tired of losing money demand for Bitcoin should decline. If Bitcoin is going down, why would people who don't own it buy any?

@NHpilled @StakeHEX5555 @TeddyBitcoins bitcoin doesnt work as medium of exchange for everyone cause the blocks are way to small. by the way your hero Luke once wanted to shrink the blocksize to 384kb. so even less people can use it.

@EnjoyingBitcoin the miners being all over the world makes the bitcoin network decentralized. your public node doesn't do anything except watch what happens on the network.

@ZephiraNET You will find the answer to your question when you answer this one: What makes Bitcoin decentralized? - 2-5 Public Miners that control 80% of hash? - a dozen public economic nodes (i.e. Coinbase)? - something else? 😉

If the dozen or so large public economic nodes shutdown today, Bitcoin would be fine. Maybe better. But, if the countless plebs shutdown their nodes, Bitcoin would be captured. Dead. Finished. Plebs are Bitcoin. You need us. BIP110 FTW.

@ZephiraNET When miners consider that a large portion of nodes (1/6 presently) will throw out their block and they'd lose their reward, that's economic reason if I ever saw one. If they flip the BIP-110 bit, their blocks are accepted by all nodes. It's a no-brainer for them.

@Bit_Faced it's kinda weird im now siding with core over the bip10ers. but that's because bip10 is censoring and, Luke in the past wanted to shrink the blocksize to 384kb. and he's the sole maintainer of knots. actually it's not weird. LukeCoin is about the smallest blocks and censoring

Core created an artificial shortage of block space and BIP110 is the result: people fighting over which transactions are important enough to squeeze through that 1 MB. Both sides adamantly refuse to listen to the author of the code. Bitcoin (BCH) users unaffected.🍿

@ZephiraNET Wrong. 1% last period. Miners will not signal in substantial numbers until near the end when they have an economic reason to do so.

Can someone explain this to me? Why doesn’t the government invest: £1,000 for every newborn into a retirement account? Leave it invested in a global ETF for 65 years Assuming 10% annual returns: That £1,000 becomes roughly: £650,000 One small investment Potentially one person needing far less state pension I genuinely struggle to understand why we don’t talk about this more
