@getonthestiix Only Nintendo could do it... That's not even me being a bootlicker, nobody except gears for breakfast and Nintendo know how to use unreal engine except for games that look too realistic.

@HangmanSwingset @Verliswolf The real question here is whether Pokémon Works wants to copy Showdown's replay system, storing a visual set of instructions rather than just inputs.

@HangmanSwingset @Verliswolf Video files are significantly larger than replays. Like, obscenely larger. Although a converter like the one Smash Ultimate has would be nice.

@Verliswolf @HangmanSwingset Considering Unite replays also break on balance updates... Very likely a similar system, just with a lot more inputs. Granted most people won't find this out as Unite auto deletes replays after an hour.

@HangmanSwingset @Zero320171 I'll take 720p. A smartphone or switch should be able to handle 50 compressed proprietary video format replays. I wonder what UNITE datamine says the file size of the native Battle Pass videos the game stores

@HangmanSwingset @Verliswolf Replays just stored the RNG seed, team info, and inputs made. NOT the outcome of each turn—that is recreated in real time from the information stored with the replay. Changing the game balance will cause the replay to play out differently.

@Zero320171 @Verliswolf What does that have to do with anything? The legacy recording system you had back in BW was designed around slower internet hardware and bandwidth. It’s still viable, but we literally have the technology to render it down to a usable format if you choose to keep the files.

Nintendo’s stock dropped 12% after the Switch 2 price increase to $499 in the US from the expected $449.99. The change starts in September 2026 for Western markets due to higher memory and component costs plus tariffs and exchange rates. The company also cut its sales forecast to 16.5 million units next year, down from nearly 20 million, but President Shuntaro Furukawa said the Switch 2 is selling faster than the original console

@Vaulty_22 @GendoWasRight @nib95_ It does have an intended progression route (build armor, travel to Nether, travel to The End, kill Ender Dragon) and an event that triggers a credits roll (take portal that appears after killing Ender Dragon). Whether players actually follow this route is another story.

@GendoWasRight @nib95_ A few games on here do have definable goals, they just depend person to person. Mimecraft is a game based on a loop of definable goals, the only thing is they're self defined

This clip inadvertently highlights why games as more of a strictly interactive story telling medium can be still be compelling. Compare this clip to the running scene in Ferris Bueller it's an homage to, which has him going through a few gardens with constant cuts and edits. This Mixtape scene has her going through countless homes, a construction site, birthday party, into constant on coming traffic, over rooftops, through a school, football pitch, bus yard, factory etc, all in a single tracking shot, something that would be near impossible to film in a real life movie. It's audiovisually fun and extravagant, whether there's much interactivity or not. And it's possible in a game with all the beautiful art, assets, lighting, set pieces and atmosphere that comes with it. And while Christina was doing nothing but hating on the lack of interactivity while ignoring the art and its audiovisual impact, I was admiring it. Obviously if you're hate playing a game for not being what it isn't, you're not going to enjoy it. A bit like playing Gran Turismo and constantly whining there's no plot and deep story. Different games are trying to be different things, and games that are interactive stories or moving graphic novels, clearly still have their draw and audiences. It's also inept that tourists and sheep who haven't played the game, or others condemning it for what it isn't even trying to be, are attempting to suggest the adoration for it from critics or gamers is all some sort of paid for conspiracy, when it's sitting at a 94% on Steam and 97% on PSN, based on purchase confirmed user ratings (meaning from people confirmed as having bought/played it). For context, those purchase confirmed user averages are notably higher than its 85 Metacritic average. So ironically buyers are enjoying it MORE than critics. #Mixtape

@MonoRedGirl @nidohime @victryena The transfer in is one-way. Once they touch home, they can't return to FRLG. As opposed to LGPE behavior where they can't return to LGPE only after touching another game and not just existing in Home.

@Tyrant002model PlayStation is not the home of Final Fantasy. It started with Nintendo. Also, Metal Gear started with Nintendo. So did a number of other franchises. Learn a bit about gaming history.

@TheDavidVinc @KirPinkFury The Japan-only variant exists due to the weak Yen and as a scalper deterrent. Both the Japan-only variant ($~320 USD) and the regular multi language variant ($~450) are sold in Japan. Currently quite common for electronics in general to do this over in Japan, especially Sony.

@KirPinkFury Let's not forget that they purposely region locked the Japanese Switch 2 and released it at a super low price for them. Also, to Reggie's point, the NES came with Super Mario and Duck Hunt and the GameBoy came with Tetris

The first comment about how Nintendo of America makes about 50% of Nintendo's revenue and profit must be a concern at the moment for the company and new president. After all, they have admitted how Switch 2 isn't performing as they expected in the NoA territory. (1)

EVERY SINGLE pokemon pro is complaining that the format is ass and there's literally zero player agency and every new mega is extremely dull in card design but there's ALWAYS that annoying voice screaming that the game is cheap LITERALLY NO OTHER REDEEMING QUALITIES
P:ART | Eliza@ElizaSheetposts

Each deck over $50 plays Unfair Stamp which is currently $18 Overall, the game is incredibly affordable right now considering Stamp is a 1-per deck card Both Teal Mask decks are running Stamp AND 4x Teal Mask which are $5 each 10/10, no notes except I should edit photos better

I wanted to run an experiment. I started Champions from scratch again: no HOME, no GO, no Starter Pack, nothing at all. After 50 minutes, I already had a solid team that let me reach Ultra Ball within 2 hours. So how can anyone call this game pay to win?

@Alexis_Vgc If you run into a team with mega floette and you got smoked and want to use mega floette you need to buy 500+ dollars worth of equipment and spend at least 20 hours beating the story and post game.

@andy_fritz99 @Dr_Wildy @Alexis_Vgc F2P games generally don't require paid NSO. Champions and Unite do not. The GTS is also part of the phone app for Home, so that doesn't need NSO either.

Yes and no. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you have the ability to play champions then you have to have Nintendo online, and if you have Nintendo online then you have access to the GTS, and if you have access to the GTS you can set up trades I mean it might take a long time or forever, But I was able to get somebody's mega floette in exchange for a shiny that I hunted years ago presumably because they were trying to fill out a shiny dex But it's also not technically pay to win even if you ignore the GTS, it's just pay for convenience. There are plenty of meta teams that don't involve mega floette. But it certainly is convenient for mega floette fans to be able to have access to it
