editors that can capture playstyles but also have nice flow and impact are the best. there's alot of very technically skilled editors who remove too much from clips to where everything feels same same

Everyone says “you need a portfolio to get clients as an editor.” That’s the biggest lie in the industry. I’ve seen editors with stunning reels get ignored. I’ve seen editors with zero portfolio close $5k projects. Why? Because clients don’t buy “nice edits.” They buy certainty. Certainty that you can take their raw idea and turn it into a story. Certainty that you’ll deliver on time. Certainty that you’ll make them look like the authority in their space. A portfolio site doesn’t communicate that. It just makes you look like the other 500 editors in your niche. Here’s how I actually closed deals: – By posting edits consistently on Instagram – By making my work impossible to ignore – By letting clients come to me when they realized they needed that style No cold DMs. No sending 20 samples hoping for attention. Just creating, posting, and letting the right people find me. Editing is not about showing what you’ve done. It’s about showing what you can do for THEM. this is a genuine question as i've never quite understood why there is sniping editors and just editors. every editor i have know who edits trickshots is also fine with editing sniping, but not the other way around. other than preference is there a reason?
