It looks silly, but actually, Wouter is explaining why blockchain should be the backbone for ALL prediction algorithms. He calls it: “TRUSTLESS VERIFICATION”. Zeus is a weather prediction API for energy traders. Our latest feature lets us prove exactly when a forecast was made. Why is this important? ↓ When our energy trading clients evaluate Zeus, they ask for our historical forecasts so they can see how well the model performed. How do they know we did not make those numbers up, or change our historical data to make it look better? Until now, the answer was usually trust. Or worse, paying expensive centralised companies to verify the data for you. This is why Bittensor is such a perfect fit for prediction algorithms!!! Once a prediction is recorded on the blockchain ledger, it cannot quietly be changed later. It is immutable, the record is there forever, and anyone can check it. So accuracy becomes something you can prove, not just claim. Zeus is the first weather prediction system to build this directly into the product. More details will follow in an upcoming article. Today, we implemented a solution to weight copying on Zeus. Another step tightening Zeus’ design, to strengthen every bit of genuine participation in building world's best weather forecasting system. Dynamic Burn, designed to reward validators doing the hard work validating Zeus, while reducing the incentive of bad actors copying weights.

Zeus V2 has been live for ~2 months. Today we’re publishing its technical architecture and preliminary performance report. In an 18-day operational audit against ERA5: - Zeus achieved double-digit relative improvements over both ECMWF IFS and AIFS across four variables. - Forecasts were disseminated ~75% faster. Zeus is a decentralized weather forecast aggregation market, using a cryptographic commit-reveal protocol to verify forward predictions and prevent look-ahead bias.
