New ZibraVDB for UE v1.5.3 update! The update brings two big visual improvements frequently requested by our community: — Fully reworked ambient lighting. Previous method was free but was not precise enough. New ambient lighting brings high-fidelity visuals in shadowed areas without sacrificing performance. — Full support for rectangular lights. @anderson_seiji and @Dave_MW just dropped their stunning short film — a sci-fi reimagining of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. What started as a character design exploration evolved into a full 3D cinematic, rendered in Unreal Engine and shaped like a teaser for a larger series. The team turned to ZibraVDB to help bring the world to life with fire and smoke-driven scenes: “By the end of our production, ZibraVDB was a must-have toolset for us for bringing in fire and smoke assets into Unreal. On top of the great increases in viewport performance that allowed us to work more freely in shot development, the ability to finetune lighting response to scene-based lights was a delightful addition to achieving the looks we were hoping for straight out of engine.” We’re honored to be part of this creative process. We don't have roadmap for other DCC yet. But the main use case for ZibraGDS is realtime rendering of geometry sequences which includes custom rendering pipeline. Hence, it won't be this useful for non-realtime usecases. Compression by itself in not goal here. Blender already has Google Draco for compression of meshes

Created by @MagnusL3D in Houdini and Unreal Engine, the scene layers volumetric effects powered by ZibraVDB with particles sculpted through the Houdini Niagara plugin, before being assembled and rendered in UE. Hello, Yes, you need to import it in SOP to bring it in Solaris. But soon we will release update which will introduce new LOP node to bring ZibraVDB effects directly into LOP context. It also will be possible to link ZibraVDB files to USD and even compress any VDB during USD export process.

Try @ZibraAI in Houdini21 indie first time it's super amazing that 100 Frame of Explosion from 66.7GB can go down to 7.03 GB I would say 95-97% same quality It's also allow you to adjust compression I using 0.6 as default thank you #sidefx #houdini #3danimations

@armoredrat You can compress any OpenVDB sequence directly in UE. So yes, you can do it with EmberGen. Plugin for Houdini just allows you to skip intermediate OpenVDB cache and store everything in ZibraVDB directly.

In the last couple of years, we have seen various attempts to utilize VDB in real-time use cases. This was bootstrapped by fast SSD drives, increased VRAM on modern GPUs, and the introduction of the NanoVDB, a new GPU-friendly OpenVDB layout. But with all that, we never really saw a true, real-time example of VDB until ZibraVDB. ZibraVDB enables true real-time for VDB by eliminating the main bottleneck, which is bandwidth. But since it is a novelty, there are many questions raised when working with VDB in real-time. Magnus Larsson @MagnusL3D uses Houdini for simulating VDB effects and Unreal Engine for assembling scenes and rendering. The use of ZibraVDB plugin in his workflow is both impressive and exactly what we envisioned when creating the plugin for real-time workflows. @ABAOProductions @SirBedson @JangaFX Hey, ZibraVDB only compresses volumetric grids, but not particles or meshes. So you can only use it for whitewater if you first convert it to "smoke" whitewater in some other tool.

Testing @ZibraAI ZibraVDB. Took a 200 frame VDB I made in @JangaFX Embergen and brought it into Unreal. As a standard VDB the file is 3.7GB. Compressed through ZibraVDB it's 145MB. I think Zibra's shader ia better than normal VDBs, but you can switch it to standard shading too.
