@vtchakarova Velina, as long as that 5-point plan does not include points 1,2, 3 and 5... That would amount to the U.S. throwing Israel under the bus.

🚨Tucker Carlson just went off on Trump on Easter morning. The full statement: “No decent person mocks other people’s religions. You mock other people’s faith — you mock the idea of faith itself. We are not God. Only if you think you are do you talk this way.” “This is not a mockery of Islam. This is a mockery of Christianity. To send a tweet with the F word on Easter morning promising the murder of civilians and then saying ‘praise be to Allah’ — you are mocking every other Christian and me.” “That is evil. That is an intentional desecration of beauty and truth — which is the definition of evil.”

Vivscontent@vivscontent

Over ‘reading the room’ (the room being: het land).

Italy is signing its own Gulf gas deals. It's the clearest sign that Europe has no energy strategy. When the crisis hit every country ran for itself: 🇩🇪 Germany flew to Houston for LNG 🇮🇹 Meloni flew to the Gulf to sign her own deals 🇫🇷 France quietly thanked itself for keeping nuclear This isn't strategic autonomy. It's 27 countries in a panic, each cutting their own deals, paying their own premiums, with zero collective leverage. The irony? Europe has the world's largest single market. Negotiating together, it could dictate terms to any gas supplier on earth. Instead supplier by supplier, country by country they're being picked off one at a time. Russia understood this. The Gulf states understand this. Washington understands this. The only people who don't seem to understand it are in Brussels. A closed Hormuz exposed every weakness Europe built over 30 years of cheap energy complacency. No unified strategy. Just 27 prime ministers on planes looking for the same molecules That's not a union. That's a queue.

@BrianMcDonaldIE I wonder what the current crisis of democracy in the West will contribute to the spreading of Western Liberal values among the young generation in Russia Why do we always think that the young are automatically Westernized and Liberal? Imagine they will turn to China?

This is a ridiculous claim from Beevor and shows an extremely poor grasp of modern Russia. It’s simply not true that Russia can "never" be a democracy. The real issue is that liberal democracy became deeply discredited for the current voting generation because of what happened in the 1990s. They remember shock therapy (imposed by outsiders), hyperinflation, a huge GDP collapse of around 40%, mass poverty and despondency, oligarch looting, and a sharp drop in male life expectancy. Ask any Russian over 35 and they will tell you it was economic and social chaos. As a result, the phrase "dermokratiya" is used to described the period (literally 'shitocracy.') All this matters because political systems are judged by real world outcomes, not theory in opeds or university halls. Successful democratic transitions have to come with at least some sense of rising living standards, but Russia experienced the opposite. By contrast, the 2000s brought strong growth, rising incomes and a sense of restored order, but under a more centralised and less democratic system. That sequence has shaped public attitudes far more than any supposed cultural predisposition. It’s also worth noting that Russia was expected to transition largely on its own. Other Eastern European countries had the anchor of promises of EU and NATO integration, with financial support and institutional guidance. Even then, some have struggled to fully consolidate liberal democracy (look at Hungary and Romania, for example!). And the "tiny, tiny, tiny minority" of brilliant minds point is just weak. Every country’s cultural elite is a small fraction of the population and, if anything, Russia has actually consistently punched above its weight: Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Pushkin, Pasternak, Tarkovsky, Limonov, Tchaikovsky, Kandinsky, Stravinsky, not to mention major contributions in mathematics, physics, IT, and space exploration, etc.
Ronan McGreevy@RMcGreevy1301

"Russia has produced such brilliant minds, such brilliant artists, writers, painters, and so forth. But they are, I am afraid, a tiny, tiny, tiny minority. The truth has no standing or respect in Russia whatsoever." It was a privilege to interview one of my favourite historians, Antony Beevor, about his new book on Rasputin. He has a few choice things to say about Russia and why he believes it will never be a western-style democracy. irishtimes.com/life-style/peo…

Magyar Péter (Ne féljetek)
For weeks, we’ve been receiving warnings from multiple sources that, after previous failed false-flag operations and a drop in Fidesz’s support, Viktor Orbán - allegedly with Serbian and Russian assistance - may be planning to cross another line. Many people have suggested that something might “accidentally” happen in Serbia, possibly involving a gas pipeline, around Easter, one week before the Hungarian elections. And now it has. I call on the Prime Minister to immediately inform the public about these developments and to invite me to the meeting of the Defense Council, as whoever organized this provocation, the resulting situation will have to be resolved by a TISZA government. I further call on Viktor Orbán to stop - at least during the holiday - spreading panic and causing disruption, as planned by his Russian advisors. I also want to make it clear that he will not be able to prevent next Sunday’s election. He will not be able to stop millions of Hungarians from bringing to an end the most corrupt two decades in our country’s history. The Hungarian people’s trust in the country’s security services has been legitimately shaken by the series of intelligence-related scandals uncovered in recent weeks. Hungarians have every reason to fear that the outgoing Prime Minister, following the advice of Russian agents, is attempting to instill fear in his own people through false-flag operations. If @PM_ViktorOrban and his propaganda machine use this provocation for campaign purposes, it will amount to an open admission that it was a pre-planned false-flag operation. A TISZA government will conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation to uncover who was politically responsible for, and who carried out, these crimes against our country. Under the TISZA government, there will once again be order, peace, security and prosperity in Hungary. The Orbán "be afraid!" culture will be replaced by a culture of "do not be afraid!" The TISZA government will be able to ensure Hungary's security within the European Union and NATO alliance system - the very alliance system that the Fidesz and Mi Hazánk parties are planning to leave. I wish everyone a peaceful Easter holiday! Truth and love ultimately always win.

· Russia and China have done more to help Cuba than all the Western left combined. · Russia and China have been instrumental in helping African nations resist Western destabilization. · The Western left is trapped by propaganda that assumes Russia and China are "bad" without examining the evidence. · The West is not good because it is good. It is good because it controls the narrative. The assumption that Russia is "bad" is not a conclusion. It is a premise. It is taught, not learned. It is repeated, not proven. And it serves the interests of those who benefit from the current order.
