I can see the perspectives you bring up. I guess my main focus is on the second husband whose capacity for mercy seems huge. I also think Nassim Taleb talked about acts of mercy only mattering when it’s the strong towards the weak and no discernible benefit for the strong to do it. To me, it’s an enormous act of compassion to say fuck it, despite not getting anything out of this, and potentially being called a names or being accused of trying to cuck the first husband, this guy saw another human whose life he could add some value to like Christ would. Just gives alpha vibes.
