i think i'd be surprised if all of the correlation was just 'neurotic people overreport.' I think probably there's 'being raised by parents with badbrains will cause you to get mistreated, but also you're more likely to genetically get badbrains' going on. And a lot of badbrain stuff clusters with neutral-weird stuff, like having fetishes. And all of that correlates with political leftism. But yes, on top of all that, I think there's 'people in this cluster tend to overreport bad things.' but i have *some* sense of how much they overreport? like women in general have more neuroticism/sensitivity than men, and occasionally i catch glimpses of the reporting differences in my data for things that should be stable. Like for example i ask 'were you raised lower class, middle class, upper' etc. and females respond with a slightly lower avg here than men do. and maybe i'm somehow sampling from a lower class population of women and a higher class of men, but in that particular survey (the same one, 850k) i don't think so. and the distance of the gap between women/men there gives me a bit of an intuitive sense of the magnitude of overreporting? idk the whole thing is very messy
