Dear Friends, Today, we had a detailed and constructive meeting with Shri Subhankar Sen, Director (Marketing), BPCL and the Oil Industry Coordinator to Petroleum Ministry in Delhi . During the interaction, we discussed key issues related to the increase in Dealer Commission, various industry challenges, and trade-related concerns faced by our fraternity. We are pleased to share that the discussion was very positive. Shri Subhankar Sen ji patiently heard all our points and assured us that necessary steps will be taken promptly based on the outcomes of the meeting. We sincerely appreciate his proactive approach and supportive assurance towards strengthening the petroleum retailing ecosystem. We have also formally handed over the attached representation to Shri Subhankar Sen regarding the urgent need for an upward revision of dealer margins. A copy of the letter is attached herewith for your reference. Warm regards, *Ajay Bansal* President All India Petroleum Dealers’ Association

The contents in the display standee shown in the image have been checked and it has been verified that no such standees are present at any petrol pump today. While pure Ethanol has a hygroscopic nature, Ethanol Blended Petrol / E20 supplied by Oil Marketing Companies conforms to BIS specifications. Ethanol and Petrol are miscible in all proportions and no layering or separation of Ethanol Blended Petrol meeting BIS standards happens on its own. Moreover, the fuel storage system in a vehicle is also designed to avoid water ingress. Compliance with BIS IS 17021:2018 standards ensures the reliability of vehicles using E20. With Ethanol’s higher-octane number (~108.5 vs petrol’s 84.4), modern high-compression engines operate more efficiently. India has steadily raised petrol quality under BS-VI norms and with E20 blending, Octane rating has improved to RON 95, ensuring superior anti-knock properties and performance. Further, concerns about drastic mileage loss are completely misplaced. Real-world vehicle mileage depends far more on driving habits, maintenance practices, age of vehicle, tyre conditions, usage of AC load, etc. Even despite these clarifications by car manufacturers and insurers and despite the fact that not even a single case of engine failure or vehicle loss have been reported in last 10 months of E20 usage across the country, some vested interests have been spreading misinformation, doubts and deliberately misrepresenting selective data to create fear, anxiety and doubt in the minds of car owners. These issues have been clarified in depth by all major car manufacturers, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers and Oil Marketing Companies. E20 is completely safe for cars. Some people tried to insinuate that insurance will not be valid with E20 usage were clarified by insurers. Government and insurers have clarified that insurance remains fully valid when they fill E20 fuels. India’s E20 adoption is a calibrated, standards-backed journey over a period of more than two decades that reduces import dependency, enhances energy security, lowers carbon emissions (through biogenic content) and supports farmers’ incomes, without compromising on safety or durability of vehicles and is a time tested global solution for decarbonisation.

Oil lobby is saying that during rains and washing, water can enter your fuel tank. Even a small amount can attract ethanol and separate it from petrol into a distinct layer, making cars/bikes difficult to start or causing jerks while driving. Oil lobby further says that’s why you should periodically get your petrol tank cleaned, from your own money, of course. I think this is the latest toolkit from the oil lobby to malign Nitin Gadkari ji. Videsh se funding aayi lagti hai. I’ll wait for experts like TikTokers and reel-makers who’ll make skits to educate us that water doesn’t remove ethanol from petrol, yeh deep state ki saazish hai.
