A S Sahney, Chairman, IndianOil, visited Guwahati to review the ground-level LPG supply situation, interacting with distributors, customers, and field teams to assess service delivery, stock preparedness, and safety practices. He met all OMCs LPG Distributors of Assam & Meghalaya and emphasized strict adherence to transparent operations, 100% DAC compliance, and accelerated e-KYC to ensure LPG reaches genuine consumers without diversion. Reiterating zero tolerance towards malpractices, distributors were directed to maintain adequate stocks, ensure seamless home delivery, and uphold a customer-friendly environment. IndianOil continues to maintain robust LPG supplies, with no shortage reported. The global situation remains in flux, and we are closely monitoring developments across energy, supply chains, and essential commodities on a real-time basis. Rumours of a lockdown in India are completely false. Let me state this clearly, there is no such proposal under consideration by the Government of India. In such times, it is important that we remain calm, responsible, and united. International crude prices have gone through the roof in the last 1 month from around 70 dollars/barrel to around 122 dollars/barrel. Consequently, petrol and diesel prices for consumers have gone up all over the world. Prices have increased by around 30%-50% in South East Asian countries, 30% in North American countries, 20% in Europe and 50% in African countries. The Modi Government had two choices- either increase prices drastically for citizens of Bharat as all other nations have done or bear the brunt on its finances so that Indian citizen is insulated from international volatility. Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji, in keeping with his Government’s commitment of last 4 years since the conflict in Russia-Ukraine started, decided to take a hit on its own finances again to safeguard the Indian citizen. Government has taken a huge hit on it taxation revenues to ensure very high losses of oil companies (approximately 24 Rs/litre for petrol and 30 Rs/litre for diesel) at this time of sky high international prices are reduced. At the same time, export tax has been levied as international prices of petrol and diesel have skyrocketed and any refinery exporting to foreign nations will have to pay export tax. The brilliant youth, drawn from various colleges of Punjab were also joined by their friends from other states and a foreign participant from Lesotho, shared their experiences, ideas and aspirations with clarity and enthusiasm to power PM Sh @narendramodi Ji’s vision of Viksit Bharat. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Rules 2025 which have recently been notified will introduce a paradigm shift in India’s quest to strengthen and boost domestic production of hydrocarbons, and provide momentum to efforts towards achieving India’s energy security under the leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji. This article takes the example of Ashok Nagar in West Bengal to lucidly explain the positive impact of the Oilfields (Regulation & Development) Amendment Act 2025 and shows how it has paved the way for a better energy future. ✅ The new rules remove all ambiguity around what counts as the “value of the lease”. ✅ They put a time limit on approvals. Any application for a petroleum lease now has to be decided within 180 days. ✅ Instead of forcing companies to juggle multiple licences at different stages, a single petroleum lease now covers exploration, development, production, and even related activities like renewable energy projects. India continues to strengthen the infrastructure for domestic exploration and production of hydrocarbons as we move ahead towards achieving energy security under the dynamic leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji. In a landmark moment today, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Rules, 2025 have been amended to offer ease of business and operations. 📋 With broader spectrum of rights under one petroleum lease, the lessees will have the right to carry out all types of mineral oil operations under one petroleum lease. In addition, they may undertake decarbonization and comprehensive energy projects at oilfields. 📋 Application for grant of petroleum lease will be decided within 180 days. 📋 Long term leases of up to 30 years may be granted and may be extended up to economic life of the field allowing lessee to make planned investment decision. 📋 Lessees shall make an annual declaration to GOI of the installed, utilised and excess capacity of the infrastructure facilities owned by it. Permits lessees to jointly develop or share infrastructure facilities by mutual agreement. 📋 Seat of arbitration of lease and contractual disputes where all lessees or Contractors are Companies incorporated in India is New Delhi. Where any member is a foreign company as defined in Companies Act, a neutral seat of arbitration may be opted. 📋 Lease formats have been introduced for uniformity and ease of administration. 📋 Rules mandate submission of a reduction plan comprising time-bound reduction targets and milestones to achieve zero gas flaring and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. 📋 Provision made for special petroleum lease. 📋 Rules require NOCs to promptly notify all existing and new discoveries, submit field development plans within prescribed time limits, obtain Central Government approval for development areas, and regularly report development and production activities. 📋 Penalties have been enhanced to Rs. 25 lakh and in case of continuation of contravention to Rs. 10 lakhs per day. @PMOIndia @PetroleumMin @TheSureshGopi @PIB_India @MIB_India @mygovindia @transformIndia @investindia @IEA @fipiind
