First of all this was not a woman reservation bill. This was a bill so that wives, daughters, sisters and other women from politician's families can also get the lucrative benefits without doing anything. Women's reservation in parliament can be given without increasing the seats too! But they wanted to increase the seats so that they don't lose their place due to women's reservation. What else is the problem in giving 33% reservation in existing 543 Lok Sabha seats? If they really care for women, then provide reservation in existing seats. What is the problem with this?

Asked someone from the industry whether foreign investors are still interested in allocating to India. The TLDR: Interest has pretty much died out. India is seen as geopolitically exposed, especially to an oil shock. There are no real AI plays. Valuations are rich. And the rupee situation doesn't help. On top of that, investors who were sitting on gains have taken money off the table and are now looking at markets like Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Europe etc instead. He also pointed out that our LTCG/STCG structure and the increase in STT have made India less attractive compared to other markets that are seeing inflows. If we need to attract FPIs back, and we do, fixing this feels like pretty low-hanging fruit.

In Feb this year, Maharashtra’s Forest minister #GaneshNaik had proposed a scheme to cash on teakwood forest to support govt’s Ladki Bahin scheme thats otherwise draining the state’s treasury. And now this news of cutting over one lakh trees from reserved forest in Gadchiroli, rich in teak, to make way for Iron Ore mining. The wise can very well connect the dots here! Forest dept officials have been saying that the Ladki Bahin is taking away funds from forest, education, health and many other crucial sectors. But who cares?!! “The forest proposed for diversion is a single unbroken 937-hectare block within the Bhamragad Reserve Forest — a southern tropical dry deciduous jungle dominated by teak and bamboo, supporting Indian gaur, sloth bear, leopard, dhole, tiger and the central Indian giant squirrel, where approximately 123,000 trees could be felled to make way for an iron ore project.”

The Forest Advisory Committee has approved a plan to fell approximately 123,000 trees. They’re cutting down 250 year old banyan trees in Nashik for the upcoming Kumbh Mela. I want development in my city, but it honestly hurts to see trees that have stood for generations being cut down. There are many ways to deal with such issues, but this just feels wrong💔
