Looks like I’m going to my first GCX event 😍 I’ve organized panels and marketing activations for that event for years but was never able to go. I’m beyond excited to experience this first during such a community-forward time 💜

After my competitive Halo career came to an end, I followed Bungie to their next project - Destiny. It was different than the arena PvP I had come to love with Halo. But the Crucible, with all its abilities, space magic and advanced movement was a breath of fresh air. I never really enjoyed pve, but something about leveling up to become stronger in pvp hooked me in. Halo was where it began, but Destiny is what made my content dreams come true. Getting partnered on Twitch. Jumping around my house when I got the email. It’s also where I got my start casting, stepping back from competition to broadcast tournaments from a central hub so we could shine an even bigger spotlight on the incredible players in the community, and focus more on raising money for charity. And then there’s Trials. Boy where do I even begin. The friends made, the excruciating losses, the game 9 and 7 clutches and 1v3s to earn that fabled trip to the lighthouse, which never got old even after hundreds of visits. The feeling of helping someone reach that for the first time never got old either. And then there’s the pinnacle of my memories with this game. Traveling to Bungie several times to play test Trials, and cast tournaments from their studio HQ, raising nearly $1,000,000 in the process. As a kid that grew up playing Halo, Bungie HQ was like a version of Heaven on earth. Walking through those hallways, talking to devs that shaped my childhood and even adult life, seeing the old artifacts, and being handed a microphone to share my passion for the game and community we all hold dear is something I’ll tell my grandchildren about. It’s never easy saying goodbye, and maybe this is hopium, but I really hope this isn’t goodbye but just a see you later. And we all get to play D3 in the years to come. But if we don’t, and if this is the end, then what an incredible ride Bungie has given all of us, again.

@Gothalion @Professorbroman I got engaged at GCX 2023! Surrounded by friends who became family largely because of Destiny 2/GCX. 🩵 and then playing in the PVP tournament on the main stage (I got my booty kicked but I did manage a lil 3 piece so I’ll take it)

One year after Destiny first dropped, so did we. What started as a gathering place for Guardians became something far greater than any of us expected. GCX was born out of a love for this universe — not just the raids, the lore, or the loot — but the community that formed around all of it. For so many of us, Destiny didn't just give us something to play. It gave us something to build on. It's where countless creators found their voice, where streamers discovered their audience, and where friendships were forged that had nothing to do with light levels and everything to do with what happens when people chase something together. Today, Bungie announced that active development on Destiny 2 is coming to an end. You can read their full statement via the link below. Every end deserves to be honored. And we rarely get the chance to celebrate a life while it still matters. This July, we want to give this community exactly that. GCX cordially invites you to Destiny: A Celebration of Game Life. Join us at Universal Orlando Resort for something we've been quietly hoping we'd never need — and now know we need more than ever. We're planning a dedicated Destiny celebration at Main Stage: an SRL Tournament, a retrospective spanning 12 years of memories, and some very special guests who helped shape what this game and this community became. More details are coming soon, but know this — we're building it for you, the people who were there from the beginning, and for everyone who found their way to this community somewhere along the journey. One last ride, Guardians. We'll see you in Orlando. Tickets below. Rise up...and remember — The GCX Team #GCX2026 #GCX2026ForTheLight

Read the full blog at bung.ie/d2_may_21_2026 For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.
