@EveHayes123 I’m so sorry to hear that. I have brought my daughter when she was younger a few times to conferences. I didn’t ask though. I just did it and everyone seemed fine. I think there are benefits to our kids seeing us as professionals, as well as our colleagues seeing us as parents.

I’m at a conference today. The organisers just told me that I can’t bring my daughter to the networking session or the dinner tonight. I couldn’t get a babysitter. This is one of those times, as a single parent, that you really miss out. It felt like a gut punch.

@grindfacetv This same thing happened to me at a jiffy lube off in Las Vegas! Three men working there and when I went to pay for my oil change they told me the charge was about $400-500 and that they were not allowed to release my car ‘for safety reasons’. They were very aggressive

@bethanyjbabcock This is amazing! Shows what an airline can do if they care at all. I was recently traveling with my two kids on @britishairways and we had a 24 hr delay in LA, 18 hr delay in London, lost all our bags, and 21 hr delay in London. No hotel or comp provided during any delay! 👎🏻

Imagine traveling with three exhausted kids after vacation and your flight change becomes an overnight in Las Vegas. You start searching for hotels and begin to panic because there is nothing. I mean nothing. You start running through scenarios of sleeping in the airport and think if you have any favors you can cash in. Then you get this text while still on the first flight: “Hi Babcocks! This is Shannon from @SouthwestAir I’ve booked you all a hotel and rescheduled you on the next flight in the morning” Shannon continues to text me during the flight making sure I get a taxi big enough for all of us, sent links to be reimbursed for other expenses and made sure I knew to call him if anything happens. It felt like my kids had an uncle working at corporate looking out for them. I always said I would never take my kids to Vegas but we made the best of it and planned to Uber eats their favorites for dinner. Imagine our surprise to see that not only did he find us a room but one large enough for my kids. The presidential suite. Now picture three little kids flipping out about a shower the size of their first bedrooms. Shannon saved the day. We slept well, ate well and are now on to our next flight. @SouthwestAir Shannon in connections downstairs in Las Vegas needs a raise. He’s one of the good ones that makes your customer service legendary.

@SecretaryPete @British_Airways You may wonder which airline is to blame for a total of 63 hours of flight delays for our trip, rerouting to another airport, then losing all our bags and then providing no compensation for me and my kids? That award goes to @British_Airways

@SecretaryPete Airlines are definitely not doing this. Few weeks ago i flew from LA to Edinburgh w/my two kids and flight 1 was delayed 24 hrs, flight 2 delayed 18 hrs and rerouted to Glasgow, then all bags lost. Flight3 (London to LA) delayed 21 hrs. No compensation despite submitting claims

I am hearing reports of some airlines only offering flight credits to passengers for cancelled flights. 

Let me be clear — you are entitled to get your money back promptly if your flight is cancelled and you don't take a rebooking.

@elonmusk Also important to note that many federal government issued devices use iOS. The excitement to drive forward combined with a lack of understanding of potential security violations with AI create many serious risks.

If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies. That is an unacceptable security violation.

Guys, I have already gone through my entire house and changed the batteries in all of the smoke detectors, something I do regularly. If you came here to mansplain batteries to me, sit this one out. The problem is there is a detector somewhere in this house that I cannot find.

Somewhere in my house a smoke detector keeps occasionally chirping and I cannot for the life of me figure out where it’s coming from and I feel like a character in a Poe story slowly going insane
