@EmerysVilla @danielstorey85 We’re not in debt. Pep spent, but winning titles gives you money to spend.
English

@_Bailo_ @danielstorey85 Villa has to sell to buy, thanks to unfair Prem League SCR rules, and UEFA SCR rules, unlike United, Arsenal, City and Chelsea, who can just spend and be in debt😅

English

Football's finances are broken if you can lose £262m in a year and crack on.
Football's rules are broken if you can loophole your way to spending power.

@EmerysVilla @danielstorey85 Whinging about being the tenth highest spenders in Europe, one season in the champions league to show for it
English

@danielstorey85 It's ok, the system is working fine for them as it was meant to, not for non SKY 6 clubs like Villa

English

This was one was even worse, how can you NOT pass to a player in that position 😂

The treatment Foden gets in England is SHOCKING. PASS THE BALL TO YOUR NUMBER 9 DAWG😡
English

@goatersmotors Sterling disallowed goal might be top. And Lyon. Anfield 3-0. Felt like it would never come. Chelsea final and the fucking journey home.
Some dissapear with context, United only delayed the title by a few days.
5-0 at OT.
Relegation in 96.

@WilloMCI I agree. Loan for a year then comeback and compete, possibly under a new manager.

We cannot lose James Trafford.
From my point of view, it’s simple. Trafford isn’t just another academy player, he’s the goalkeeper our system has produced. You watch him and it’s obvious he fits exactly what we want. Comfortable on the ball, brave off his line, composed under pressure... everything you need in a Manchester City keeper.
That's why this frustrates me so much.
The way we play doesn’t suit Donnarumma. He’s an elite shot stopper. You cant try to transform or ask him to be a ball playing sweeper keeper.
That just isn’t his game.
If you want Donnarumma, then play to his strengths. Let him focus on stopping shots. Let him sit on his line. But we won’t do that, because that’s not how City play.
So why force it?
If we’re sticking with this system... and we are, then Trafford should be the one in goal. It makes more sense tactically, and it sets us up long term.
People will bring up Trafford's age, but that doesn’t concern me at all. Ederson walked into this team at the same age and became number one instantly. If you’re good enough, you’re old enough... and Trafford is more than good enough.
James Trafford will have his eyes on becoming England’s number one. To do that, he needs games. Proper, consistent minutes at the highest level. If we can’t give him that, or at least guarantee a clear path, he will leave. Simple as that. And you can't blame him.
That’s why this feels like a pivotal moment.
For me, I’d go as far as saying I’d rather sell Donnarumma, than lose Trafford. That’s how highly I rate him and how important I think he could be for us over the next decade.
At the very least, we need a plan. Whether that’s giving him real minutes or sending him on loan with a clear pathway back, something has to be done.
Because letting a player like Trafford go, especially one who actually fits us perfectly, would be a massive mistake.

@ketchell @FPL_Fly @GreggsOfficial I’m not trying to win the league or owt but there’s no way it takes 11 minutes to walk from the Etihad to the big Asda

@AdamFulwell_ It’s crap in stadium, should be on the big screen then we can boo/appeal/berate the refs as per any other game. The procedures need looking at, seems worse in England than elsewhere, especially the time it takes
English

I genuinely don’t think fans oppose VAR, they oppose the clowns who operate it.
Every international tournament the English officials are shown up. Standards are rock bottom.

English

@Nichol_5 @AdamJoseph Thing is most fans forget about other teams winning things soon after. But we’re having the time of our lives winning the lot over the last decade, then watch you lot “forgetting” about it weeks on while still talking/posting about it and showing us how hurt you really are.
English

@AdamJoseph Nobody cares about the amount of trophies City win because it all feels fake.
I’d still prefer them to win the title this season.
Arsenal are insufferable. City are nothing.
English

I'd genuinely forgotten about this already.
There's something incredibly hollow about a club being a sportswashing play thing of an entire country, with years of cheating that mark this period of history with asterisks & a stain on the sport.
Nobody respects you & you know it.

@JBruns01 @Coach_Temisan It should’ve been this. But what they’ve introduced has been a negative. One touch and shoot is the most common tactic from every kick in regardless of where on the pitch, if not a lump into the box. I support the no heading rule for kids, but don’t see why throw ins can’t stay

@City_Xtra @theskybluetimes @BernardoCSilva @ManCity Ah, one midfielder does an interview about leaving and then another midfielder shows how it should be done.

Bernardo Silva: "Culturally, Portuguese and English are quite different; the weather, the food, the way of living is a bit different. I always joke that if #ManCity was a bit more [in the] south of Europe, I'd stay until people kicked my ass out! Because I truly love the football club, my teammates, the staff, the fans, the stadium, the atmosphere - everything about my professional life!
"Then, the other side of my life, it's different because I'm not saying I don't like, but culturally it's not 100% what I'd ideally want. So in some moments you're not feeling as happy as you want. Before I met my wife, I was alone in Manchester for a period where I didn't feel that well with myself. I definitely thought a lot about leaving, not because I didn't like the football club - which I really love - but because of the other side of my life.
"At the end, it didn't happen. I'm really happy it didn't! Because I would've probably lost the opportunity to live the memories of the treble, four-in-a-row, opportunity of being a captain, in the leadership group, passing experience to the young guys, trying to put the club back where it deserves. But if Manchester City was in Lisbon, I'd stay until I'm 40..." [via @ManCity]

English

@SamLee If he leaves at the end of his contract as a 31 year old then I’ve no problem. If he forces his way out this summer it’ll be a disappointment in him and also our chances of winning anything next season reduce in my opinion, so it would take a huge fee for me to let him go now.
English

The Rodri answers about Madrid felt inevitable to me. He’s done a couple of post-match interviews with Spanish reporters in the last fortnight, which is quite rare, and it felt to me - and I may be wrong - that he was ready to drop some kind of hint about his future. International breaks are usually good for that.
I feel City’s squad doesn’t need much work this summer as it’s very strong, but if Rodri and Bernardo go then it’s a bigger job. Rodri does say he’s happy in the PL for now so it may be that he does the last year of his deal, or even stays, but it’s interesting that he’s still open to the idea of playing for Madrid (he always has been) after the Balon d’Or stuff.

@IpswichTown @DavidMooney can we add “shame about Ipswich eh” to the list
English

Following Monday’s visit by the Reform party and its leader, Nigel Farage, the club would like to issue the following statement:
Ipswich Town Football Club has, over several years, hosted representatives from a range of political parties. The club remains apolitical and does not support or endorse any individual or party.
The club will continue to engage with representatives from across the political spectrum as part of its role within the community.
Ipswich Town is proud to be an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming organisation that supports all members of the local and wider community. This commitment remains unchanged.

@MiguelDelaney Very kind to Arsenal, this. Almost as if this trophy suddenly didn't matter and it was all just a limbering up exercise for bigger days. Looked to me like they were well up for it but froze, then got outthought, outmanouevred and outplayed. Big questions to answer.
English

A new pressing tweak leads to a familiar scene: City winning a trophy, Arsenal looking on deflated
It wasn't like the 2-2 v Wolves though and more telling for April than "psychology" or "momentum" might be the pressing systems and what is gleaned

Trent Alexander-Arnold plays right-back for Real Madrid. Started home and away against Manchester City. He won the Premier League and Champions League at right-back with Liverpool. He’s used to dealing with pressure. He’s taken a decisive tournament penalty. He’s played in the World Cup before.
He has occasional defensive deficiencies but he brings a long-range passing skill that few possess. Are England that blessed at right-back that they don’t need Alexander-Arnold? That he isn’t amongst the best 30 outfield players available to Thomas Tuchel?
