I think my current feeling on it is that it seems this change is targeted mostly at players in the gold-emerald range (good enough to reasonably be able to last hit minions with decent efficiency but not good enough to know the mechanic) and I think there is an argument to be made that if the game had better onboarding / a system like 2XKO which teaches complex concepts a mechanic like this would be better off staying in the game and taught instead of removed but because that has not yet been designed I can see the argument for removing it as it serves to be confusing for the largest part of the playerbase That being said, man would it be sick if we could get a trials type practice system for league. I came to 2XKO as my very first fighter and I was very very shocked at how they did not treat me like a baby at all they really give you properly hard trials and concepts right from the rip but they work up to them in a way that is incredibly sensible. I think if league "gamified" the trials system from 2XKO to teach more difficult concepts it would serve the new player experience and onboarding quite significantly I am not a game designer but I am a teacher and have been teaching kids for 7+ years and so from a pedagogical standpoint the way I'd see you teaching a mechanic like this is first establishing for new players (after the very very basics like cs'ing and ability usage) what it means to be in a "winning" vs "losing" lane, and then test them on questions like "In this example, X champion will likely lose lane to Y champion, in order to mitigate this they can do Z" etc - would need to have some sort of ingame example and it might need a new engine / league next to be released but something worth considering
