My paternal grandfather was amongst the founding members of the provisionals, himself having fought for the IRA in the 30s and 50s. Each one of his four sons, and 6 daughters joined the IRA after him. The organisation they joined, fought for, and went to jail as members of, was the same one he helped reorganise in the late 60s. Too many of you read a few wikipedia articles and think you all have it figured out. You don't. It isnt all black and white.

I may be Catholic, but I've always been a staunch Unionist. Ulster Scots are our kin; my uncle was deployed there during the troubles. Whatever theological disagreements exist, the one thing I could never fault loyalists on, or even the Orange Order here, was their patriotism.

@_BlackSeptmber Immigration, as in this case, runs through Dublin into the north via the open border. The Irish government in the south is directly responsible for the beheader being there. The same supported by the Irish Republican movement. The movement that slavishly worships the EU.

Why doesnt Ireland control its own borders? Yanks are honestly so politically illiterate they cant comprehend the ramifications of partition in Ireland, or how the devolved government in the North works. No one in the 6 counties (politicians or the people who elect them) has a say in immigration in to the area. That isnt a devolved power. Immigration to the North is managed by the UK Home Office, in London. Between this and the 26 county state having no say over the issue via the EU - the only way Ireland can regain control over its borders is a unified state, free from the foreign interference of Britain & the EU.
