Looking forward to seeing sights like this starting Friday evening! Excited to take the Bolt Hunter lightning trigger on its first adventure. I plan on being out through Monday at least, possibly beyond. Who's going to be out chasing with me this weekend?

@GhostTrainPhoto It's also camera-specific. So if you did it for your D780, you'd want to add a new camera for the Z8 and run it again on that camera. It sounds like a lot, but it only takes a minute or two! Btw feel free to text/call us at 916-469-5035 if you prefer to talk there.

@GhostTrainPhoto The camera status monitoring is informational only, and it needs the one-time Status Calibration test to be done before it works. Bolt Hunter will work and trigger the camera even without this, even if the camera shows as "Disconnected", as long as the connection actually is good

Nikon Z users with the @_BoltHunter - HELP! I just got the bolt hunter but I can't get my Z8 to recognize it. Works great on the D780 but my Z8 has no idea it's there.

@tknep3 @shannbil Oh yeah that’s really high. Autofocus was off right? And mechanical or EFCS, not silent/electronic shutter? I’d expect closer to 60 for the Z7

@_BoltHunter @shannbil 114ms Didn’t work with any trigger and never did so moving my Z6iii to the bolt hunter cam, Z6 to timelapse cam (always was) and a ZR to my dash cam

Sold a camera today because the @_BoltHunter said it was too slow. Nikon ZR coming soon 👀

Running the Bolt Hunter through its paces with my Nikon Z7 II and D850. Surprised to see the shutter lag time is better on my older D850 at 53 ms compared to the Z7 II mirrorless at 60 ms. I’ll be switching back to my D850 for lightning photography for the remainder of this season. The lightning simulator within the app is a very nice tool. Not only can I confirm the shutter lag but I can play with exposure times on those bolts that have multiple strokes to see which exposure time works best. Also notice the old school remote control in the photo? If you actually want to simulate a lightning bolt a remote with an infrared LED at the end of it is a perfect substitute for lightning. It’s a great way to confirm everything is working before you go out in the field. @Negative_Tilt

@cartermurphy218 @_BoltHunter Yeah, I had to go for it yesterday and hope I got lucky, and I did. Hopefully some more for us soon! This is going to get really addicting.

Yesterday, on a very low end thunderstorm risk day on the high plains, I was able to test out my @_BoltHunter for the first time! Here are some bolts I was able to capture. Now, yesterday wasn't meant to be a spectacular lightning shoot, but the trigger performed fantastically and I think we got some good stuff for a first round of shots!

@Negative_Tilt @_BoltHunter Have you guys planned on porting over a webpage? I can download the app but I really wanted to be able to use my laptop exclusively in the field.

Bolt Hunter has officially sold out from the first production batch of 500 units. New orders will reserve spots for the next production run & will ship in the order received. Goal is to ship starting June 8th. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s lightning shots! @_BoltHunter

@clarencewlsmith Those are still quick enough to perform pretty well! We've caught tons of bolts on a 6D with Bolt Hunter with 60ms-ish shutter lag.

Just completed setup of the @_BoltHunter with the following shutter lag times on these dinosaur DSLRs. What lag times are the rest of you getting? Also, the simulations showed success with both cameras! Just waiting on the real world now.
