On a rainy Saturday, protestors marched to 26 Federal Plaza, where ICE has been disappearing New Yorkers trying to attend routine immigration check-ins. A speaker called for people to get organized: “from LA to Gaza, we must resist this fascism.” @WOLPalestine protest 6/14/25

I have no issue with men's hockey team celebrating. They should. It was a major upset 😉. Them ripping it up in Florida is great. Celebrating a major accomplishment is awesome. But you can't overlook who they allowed to party in their room and who they accepted a WH invite from. Pedophile protectors. Pedophilia and rape shouldn't be partisan. If you lean R or L you should be disgusted by it and want accountability for the perpetrators. Full stop.

Unfortunately, the story of Team USA at the Winter Olympics is not just cool-girl figure skaters and athletes speaking out against what’s happening back home. There is also the men’s hockey team, every member of which seemed very happy to party with FBI Director Kash Patel and get a phone call from President Donald Trump after its gold medal-winning game on Sunday. After defeating Canada 2-1 in overtime, Team USA went back to the locker room to drink beer and yell about its victory. Joining it, for some reason, was Patel. It would be one thing if Patel — who has beaten some stiff competition to become the lamest member of the Trump administration — invited himself in. However, after getting roasted for looking dorky in the locker room video, Patel clarified on X that he was “invited” to the celebration by his “friends” on Team USA. (Why Patel uses the white fist-bump emoji is a question for another day.) Read the full story: nymag.visitlink.me/G6Viff

we need to stop saying “what did you expect they’re all rich white men.” i expected better. i will always expect better because when we stop expecting better we begin to normalise these men being horrible and let them get away with it

“what did you expect” is just another way of saying “let them get away with it.” i’m not interested in living in a world where we stop demanding better. I didn’t expect perfection. i did expect basic human decency. those aren’t the same thing.

This is gross on so many levels but once again Trump and Republicans do not care about “protecting women’s sports.” Female athletes are still a punchline to them despite carrying the Milan medal count, and the players laughing alongside Trump need to answer for that same attitude
Maya🇵🇸🇱🇧@ilyasamsHOEnov

Everything about this is so genuinely gross but the “I guess I have to invite the women’s team too or else I’ll get impeached” is fucking crazy. Britta Curl is that your boy? Abbey Murphy you cool with this?

Commentator Stefan Renna on Swiss public broadcaster RTS sparked controversy during Israeli captain AJ Edelman’s second bobsleigh run at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, bringing up Edelman’s past social media posts supporting Israel’s genocide in Gaza, including one calling it “the most morally just war in history.” He compared the situation to the IOC’s restrictions on Russian and Belarusian athletes, and asked why similar neutrality standards were not being applied to Israel. Israel’s bobsleigh team, “Shul Runnings,” finished 26th out of 26 sleds, recording the slowest start and finish times in both heats, according to official results. Despite the ranking, pilot AJ Edelman stated, "We are victors, not victims.” Edelman holds dual Israeli and U.S. citizenship.

The commentator said nothing but the truth. The Israeli pilot repeatedly posted about being proud of being a Zionist and even justified genocide. Now those posts have been deleted, because he knows exactly how indefensible that is.

🇮🇱🇨🇭 This Swiss commentator has balls of steel. While the Israeli bobsleigh team was racing, he kept reminding viewers of the war crimes the pilot has openly supported. Absolute legend!

THREAD. One of the great propaganda myths of our society is that police spend their time dealing with "violent crime." ICE is no different. "Violence" is a pretext to sell it. Did you know that only 4% of all police time in the U.S. is devoted to "violent crime"?
Steven Rattner@SteveRattner

New data shows that over 86% of ICE arrests didn’t involve anyone accused or convicted of a violent crime. cc: @CBSNews

always bears repeating that this is NOT ultimately a financial decision. jeff bezos is worth over 250 billion dollars. he can afford to lose many millions and never even notice it. this is, at its core, a political and personal decision by bezos to destroy the post
