Hosted by @AutismSocietyAB the Connecting Communities event was a two day gathering on autism in Alberta. I co-lead day 2 and we focussed was on Indigenous Autism and we centred Indigenous voices. Overall it was a day filled with relational knowledge exchange and connection.

@iceTyyc Wouldn’t it be great if everyone doing those same things had the same opportunity as you? Because right now they don’t. There are 000s of families working their butts off, making sacrifices, and raising kids with “good values” that would love to live in a 4-plex next to you.

@_C_Selinger We drive old used vehicles (10/16 yrs), old bikes, I only buy things when I can afford them. Still working. Good fortune - yes. Hard work/long hours/on call 24/7/365 - definitely. Kids raised with good values. Lucky and grateful.

You spent years saving for a down pymt on your house. You picked R1 location, location, location for family and one day, its resale value. Then Council allows the house next to you to be replaced by a four-plex. Your family home and greatest investment are in trouble. Wrong? #YYC

@ShantelSherwood I recently learned that 50% of women will have serious pelvic floor issues as they age, including prolapse and incontinence, and the #1 cause of these issues is pregnancy and childbirth. 50% of women!! Now don’t get me started on the healthcare these women are receiving…

Girls should be taught from a young age all the damage it will do to their bodies and boys as well. Because they deserve to know what they will endure or put another through. Maybe it’s worth it maybes it’s not but I see it no different than informed consent.

@KelsoDylan It is incredible. And this really puts into perspective the demand on housing. We have definitely not built 2 Lethbridge's worth of housing.

In the last year, Alberta has grown by the equivalent of 2 entire Lethbridges. That is incredible.
