Alright, Bears fans, does Caleb Williams need a nickname? If so, which one should it be? [ () tells origin]

@ricksterps @fried_egg_golf Right? Like, it's not as if you're getting great odds on the last guy in the field to miss the cut. Those would have to be obscenely large bets to pay anything.

@_ChicagoRed_ @fried_egg_golf Yea, and to miss the cut would have to be a player who is actually good. The people caught doing this so far have been lesser players. I'm not saying it is impossible but getting a tennis player to drop a match or a pitcher to throw a ball instead of a strike is way easier.

"A scandal that’s flown slightly more under the radar but is highly relevant to individual sports involves UFC fighter Isaac Dulgarian. A week ago, Dulgarian lost a UFC fight in the first round by submission. Leading up to the fight, bettors started placing massive amounts of money on Dulgarian – the heavy favorite – to lose by first-round submission. The betting activity and volume was irregular enough that sportsbooks halted bets. Dana White, CEO of the UFC, had received word of irregular betting activity prior to the fight. Ultimately, White allowed the fight to proceed after questioning both Dulgarian and his attorney, who assured the UFC that nothing nefarious was about to unfold. After the fight, in which Dulgarian made suspiciously amateur blunders leading to his first-round submission, White immediately contacted the FBI to launch an investigation. "The NBA and MLB scandals have garnered the most attention, but perhaps the UFC scandal represents the most ominous signal for golf. UFC fighters are independent contractors competing in an individual sport. Elite UFC fighters make millions of dollars, but lower-profile names further down the roster barely scrap out a living. The parallels to professional golf, and specifically to lower-level tours like the DP World Tour, are clear. "The aforementioned examples highlight two key risk factors that make a sport vulnerable to gambling scandals: 1) The ability of athletes to influence an outcome that people can bet on; 2) The financial reward to make that influence worth their while. "Individual sports – tennis, golf, and mixed martial arts – score highly on both counts, which makes them ripe targets for scandals. It would be naive to believe that the illicit activity taking place in other major sports, including leagues in which players make much more money than professional golfers, hasn’t already infiltrated professional golf. That’s an integrity concern that organizations like the PGA Tour, LPGA, DP World Tour, and LIV Golf should take seriously." - @JosephLaMagna in today's newsletter

@ricksterps @fried_egg_golf Yeah, I was thinking "To Miss the Cut" bets as a possible area for exploitation. Outside that, I struggle to see where a golfer could really throw a result. Most available golf bets are for positive performances "To win, To Top 10, To make Cut, Low Man in Group, etc.".

@fried_egg_golf Golf's big field makes it harder to do these type of bets. The biggest prop that could be manipulated would be the ones where the books put two golfers against each other on a hole. However, they have really low limits on those.

A&M has a great win at ND. Indiana has an even better one at Oregon. Also, A&M's SEC foes to date are a combined 8-27 in conference play. (Yes, that is a real stat.)

@ronanpatlee @HACKETTREF Who did he interfere with? Certainly not the GK who doesn’t even see him and makes no effort to even try to make a save.

@HACKETTREF Do you believe it's ok for a player in an offside position to duck at the last second to avoid contact? I'm struggling to understand how that is not interfering. Also on Donnarumma, his positioning is impacted by a player in his peripheral vision

@Jake_B30 Did you not see the schedule? Any fan that didn't expect 6 wins at this point with "Nine", the Giants, Cowboys, Raiders, and Saints (plus getting the Ravens and Bengals with backup QB's) was being unrealistic. It's year four of the rebuild, "ahead of schedule" lol

No #Bears fan expected them to be 6-3 and in the playoff hunt in mid November This team is ahead of schedule imo and I’m just happy meaningful football is being played still Playoffs or not… Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams are both here for a long time!

@Mase2217 I’m just basing it off this year. 18 targets 16 catches. That’s not because Caleb’s thrown him everything perfect either.. he just has sure hands. He’s also excellent on routes and seems to always be open

Does anyone else feel like Burden becomes our WR1 by next year? I like Rome… but if the #Bears need a for sure catch… it seems like Burden gets it done He has quick hands too… Caleb rifles some of those passes in and it seems like it doesn’t phase him

@cade3264 @DarrylConrad The difference isn’t massive and DJ has been the best at the catch point and after the catch. I think the blocking thing is incredibly overblown. He’s a fine blocker. JT broke brains over it and people refuse to actually watch him play. Our HC said he’s an example setter.

@cade3264 @DarrylConrad He’s also getting doubled more than Rome and Luther and more teams are leaving safety help over the top of him. But, sure. 100%.

Once Kyler Gordon comes back he should go back to the outside, move wright to CB4 and let CJGJ play nickel. Should keep the best 3 CBs out there and Wright has been too slow to keep up with WR1 + WR2 out there. He’s not a starter imo. #DaBears
