How is the freelance landscape looking these days? I'm getting a fair few SEO freelancers reaching out to me over the past couple of weeks as they are struggling to secure new work. I just wanted to get the low down if it is just the situation at the moment or there is actually lots of work for freelancers who want to work with clients directly.

@Charles_SEO Better spec on the Razer but, imo a better looking UI, a more secure and streamlined ecosystem and probably less chance of tech issues on the Mac. Unless you're doing video processing/need the heavy lifting of the Razer, Mac would be my choice.

Need to buy a new travel laptop, my alienware is getting too slow after a couple years of abuse already... Do I finally give in and buy an M3 MacBook or is there anything decent out there? The new m15's have pretty bad reviews!

Yesterday I landed my most exciting ever backlink. DR 83, huge traffic site. They linked to *two* of my articles which I had spent a huge amount of time on because I would not publish them without hard to find data to support the info. That's now a day well spent! 🥂

Our 14 year old cat is being put to sleep this morning. My 9 year old was still up at midnight, absolutely distraught and pleading for it not to happen. I do not want to do today. My husband wants to do it even less. He has to take the cat to the vet. ☹️

Personal finance blog MoneyUnder30 sold for $675,000 this month. As far as I can tell - the situation is a bit tough to unravel - there's a good chance the site was losing money. It was last acquired in 2017 for $7M by XLMedia $XLM. XLMedia have been selling off their personal finance sites (also sold InvestorJunkie last month) and this is the last one to go. They reported that for 2022, their finance assets generated $1.9M in revenue, with an EBITDA loss of $1.3M. It could be the case that other sites accounted for that loss and not MoneyUnder30, but that's still a ~90% valuation decrease in 7 years. I only started really looking into this a few hours ago so I may have missed something but that's my understanding so far. Happy to be updated / corrected in the comments. I much prefer reporting on good news in this space so good luck to the new owners. I wouldn't be surprised to see the site get a bit of a design refresh to start with.

In 11 months, I’ve taken a brand-new blog from zero to $1500 dollars per month. I was a complete SEO beginner. I cringe at how bad I was. I’m still not an expert or guru. However, here’s a strategy that has earned me good $$$’s: Effective Keyword Research. Here’s how I do it: 1. Identify subtopics (content clusters) within your niche. 2. Use Google Trends to gauge search volume and interest on specific content clusters. 3. If you see data in every box (see below) then that topic probably gets about 10k searches per month. 4. Look for low competition keywords within that cluster. When I started out, I used Ubersuggest with good success. I’ve moved on now but it’s a great place to start. If you want me to do it for you shoot me a DM. 5. Analyze the top five results in the SERP and write better content than them. 6. Publish, Publish, PUBLISH! This is how I've grown my blog and will continue to do so.

@MattTutt1 GenerateBlocks is the page builder companion with a library of useful 'blocks' for GeneratePress - from the same developers Matt. It's pretty cool!

Not engagement bait (honest) - what's the best WP page builder IF GeneratePress is being used? A client I'm helping out is struggling with Elementor (and I'm not a huge fan 😬) - what do all the cool kids use these days? 😎 PS - I thought GeneratePress had it's own builder?...

@shwnhll Similar to plugins. 💯 I spent way too much time changing the design and focusing on the look of the site. Instead, the priority should have been content creation. Great thread!
